College  of Physical Education

College of Physical Education was founded in 2010. In 2007, it enrolled the first session of undergraduate students majoring in Social Sports. The College has developed "Sports Tourism" direction under MBA program since 2011. It started to provide guidance to the cultivation of "Master of Physical Education" of Chengdu Sport  University in 2015 and enroll the first session of undergraduates majoring in Leisure Sports in July 2016. The College undertakes the teaching task of public basic course College Physical Education, research on students’ physical constitution and health evaluation and Sports Science, the management of sports venues, the organization, training and management of group activities and sports contests of teachers and students, as well as competent personnel cultivation majoring in "Social Sports" and "Leisure Sports".

The College adheres to the principle of "strategem and scholarship are of equal importance, talent and morality are the paramount education objective", relies on its competitive disciplines, summarizes the school-running philosophy of "establishing the college through teaching quality, strengthening the college through scientific research, thriving the college through disciplines, and flourishing the college through rules and regulations" in 2014, carries forward the academic spirit of "physical fitness, scholarship and integrity, seeking truth and pragmatism, and pursuing excellence", and educational philosophy of "equal emphasis on strategem and scholarship, both the internal and external aspects, both literature and military affairs, and both moral and talent". In addition, the management model of "Party and government leadership, division of responsibilities, professor scholarship, democratic management" is be well adopted; A framework of "one core, four pillars, two wheels and two wings" has been proposed to fuel the dream - taking "small steps for sustainable development" as the "core", "Public Sports, Social Sports, Leisure Sports and Group Sports" as the "four pillars", "sports research and health care services" as the "two wheels", and "education master program and high-profile sports team" as "two wings" (under application), striving to achieve the transformation from "curriculum", "specialty" to "discipline".

The College has become one of the first batch of martial art evaluation and ranking system examination hall of CWA, level II Member (professional) of CWA, Standing Director of the Sports Committee of CAHE, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of Sports Committee of EICSHEA, Vice Chairman of FUSS, Vice Chairman of Sichuan Association for Scientific Management of Leisure Sports, Vice Chairman of Sichuan Aerobics Association and Vice President of UCAA. The College has now employed 63 full-time lecturers, including 2 professors, 4 part-time professors, 24 associate professors, 5 professors with doctoral degrees (including doctoral students), 49 masters, 9 national referees, 2 candidates for Academic and Technical Leaders of Sichuan Province, 2 national social sports instructors, 36 first level referees, 1 contemporary famous martial artist in Sichuan Province, 2 first level coaches of ITF, and 2 national level athletes (rhythmic gymnastics and swimming), 1 cricket player and 1 rhythmic gymnast for 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, 1 cricket player for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, 13 support objects for training program of young and middle-aged key teachers in the university, and 6 visiting scholars in China and beyond. Lecturers of the College have refereed sports events at home and abroad for several times, served as the executive referee of FISU World University Games, National Games and Student Games, the chief referee of Provincial Games, the leader of the provincial sports academic activities and teaching contests of judge panel, which has been widely recognized by the sector, and over 10 people have been awarded the title of National Outstanding Referees; Full time lecturers won 10 items of first group and individual prizes of the provincial teaching competitions; Numerous teachers have exerted certain influence in the sports academic circles in the province and beyond.

Since its establishment, the College has conducted 2 national social science fund projects, led and completed the research of 4 national social science fund projects; The College also conducted over 10 provincial and ministerial scientific research and educational reform projects, over 60 provincial and department level projects, and over 100 school level projects. The faculty published over 30 monographs and textbooks, 3 utility model patents, 2 papers on SCI, 2 full article reprints of NPC photocopies, over 30 papers on CSSCI, over 200 papers on core journals, over 100 academic papers in international, domestic, provincial and municipal sports science paper conference. The faculty team has also received 20 first prizes and over 50 second prizes, as well as 1 second prize of Sichuan Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, 1 special prize of Sichuan Higher Education Association for Teaching Achievement, 1 special prize and 3 second prizes for school-level teaching achievements. College Physical Education was approved as a provincial level ideological and political demonstration course and College Physical Education - Martial Arts was rated as a model of ideological and political education in the Xinhuanet course, which has greatly enhanced the academic influence.

Through the concerted efforts of the faculty, the College has embarked a new journey with remarkable achievements: it endeavors to emphasize comprehensive training and basic sports level, physical and mental health, social adaptability and willpower, so as to cultivate healthy persons with learning. The "discipline" theoretical level of students, skills and techniques of "strategem", instruction skills of "instructors" and professional quality of "teachers" have been comprehensively developed, which have allowed the cultivation of men of letter with good physical quality to become reality. Teaching reform of College Physical Education has been steadily promoted and the overall objective has achieved pragmatic results; Major in Social Sports Guidance and Management (2014-2015) ranks the ninth in China , the first in the west, and reaches the five-star level. In 2021, it was rated as the first-class major in Sichuan Province; Major in Social Sports Guidance and Management and Leisure Sports in 2016-2018 and 2019-2022 rank among the top in China, and top three in Sichuan Province respectively. Over the past 16 years, the College has cultivated 700 graduates of 12 sessions majoring in Sports. Some of them work in fields of sports education, management, service and industry in government organs, schools, enterprises and institutions, and 40 of them have become outstanding master's students in Beijing Sport University, Shanghai University of Sport, Chengdu Sport University, East China Normal University, Sichuan University and Yangzhou University, of which over 10 have been employed as lecturers by Southwest University of Science and Technology, Southwest Petroleum University, Chengdu University of Technology, the secondary college of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Gingko College of Hospitality Management, and have been widely recognized by employers.

The College has hosted numerous big events such as the 9th Paralympic Games, the 6th Special Olympic Games, National Line Dance League, China Senior Professor Tennis Competition, National Fitness Championship, National Sports Teaching Seminar, Sichuan-Chongqing University Tennis Association Competition, the first session of Sichuan Police Games, Sichuan University Track Meet, Sichuan University Tennis Competition and Sichuan Province University Health Qigong competition. The representative teams trained by the College teachers have won gold and silver medals in various competitions at national, provincial and municipal level, breaking 4 items of provincial college student records; won 14 national championships, 47 provincial championships and over 100 other medals. Moreover, the teacher representative team won the bronze medal in the Health Qigong Exhibition of the 14th National Games of the People's Republic of China (sixth place); Meanwhile, they won 7 items of intercontinental championships, 6 items of second place and 4 items of third place in body building. In 2021, China Sports Daily, the official websites of General Administration of Sport and Education Department of Sichuan Province have reported the College's innovation practice in sports education mechanism, demonstrating a unique and fantastic image, which has greatly propagated and improved the reputation of the university.

Under the leadership of Party and government organs, the College forges ahead with arduous efforts, takes "sports" as "science of cultivating the sport spirit and discipline for literary grace and warlike exploits", and endeavors to promoting the ideological and political education and the construction of sports majors, college sports teaching, group sports contests, sports science research, optimization of faculties, discipline construction, venue management and services, quality education of students and league members, marching steadily towards higher objectives!
