Comprehensively Upgraded! CDUT Classrooms Become Informationized!
In order to furnish teachers and students of Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) with an information-based teaching environment that is leading in technology, has comprehensive functions and flexible applications and is easy to manage and enable technical means, such as artificial intelligence and big data, to perform greater functions in education and teaching, the Office of Academic Affairs has recently organized in the Smart Teaching Area a training activity concerning the use of the Smart Teaching Area System in the new semester.
The activity adopted an online-offline interactive model that combined explaining and practicing. The training instructors explained in detail the common teaching functions and usage methods of "smart classrooms", described in detail the main functions, operation methods and AI analysis of the CDUT Smart Teaching Application Platform System and answered the questions raised by the teachers participating in the training.
Through the training and communication, a deep feeling of the teachers is that smart classrooms, compared with traditional classrooms, make full use of information means to collect, analyze and apply data on the teaching content, teaching resources, seminar-style teaching, evaluative feedback, resource releasing, homework and tests and examination results, which greatly improves classroom efficiency; in the meantime, smart classrooms make full use of big data and IoT technologies in the management and effectively improve the capacity of logistical support services together with the CDUT operation and maintenance control platform established.
Considering CDUT leaders’ high attention to the development of smart classrooms, the Office of Academic Affairs has determined the overall plan and idea of CDUT for smart classroom development that involves environment renovation, smart teaching and intelligent control after researching multiple aspects, visiting universities inside and outside the province and drawing on the experience of smart classrooms in the industry.
Smart teaching environment
A large number of targeted space renovation design efforts have been conducted in the Smart Teaching Area. Whether the wall color matching, ceiling modeling design and supporting equipment, all of them manifest the characteristics of CDUT and strive to create for teachers and students a warm, elegant, comfortable and intelligent teaching environment.
Smart control
Smart classrooms realize smart and digital control. They have equipment that possesses the automatic inspection service function and can realize management strategies such as class schedule-linked startup and shutdown as well as access control and appointment management functions; the big smart teaching screen instantly and dynamically displays different kinds of teaching information; and the electronic class card system realizes supervisory experts' outside patrol and supervision of classes.
