The First Class for Freshmen under the 2022 Master’s Programs
In order to ensure normal education and teaching order during the anti-pandemic period, faculties and students, with their presences all over the country, gathered in the "cloud" and started online "teaching and learning" from September 13 with the joint efforts of all postgraduates and supervisors. Relevant functional departments, colleges, teachers and students worked together to ensure the smooth online registration of new students, the beginning of the first class, and the smooth and orderly cloud-based teaching, so as to minimize the impacts of the pandemic on normal teaching.
The online registration was well-organized. In order to support teaching and academic research activities during the anti-pandemic period, the university promptly started the online registration of postgraduate freshmen in 2022, according to the requirements related to pandemic prevention and control in Chengdu and the actual cultivation conditions of postgraduates. The Graduate Student Affairs Office of the Party Committee and the Council of Graduate School, together with the Internet Information Office, developed a special interface for the registration of freshmen, so that they can enter the degree and postgraduate education system to make their personal cultivation plans after completing the registration. As of September 18, 2,809 postgraduates have completed their personal cultivation plans, with a rate of 99.8%. At the same time, each postgraduate training unit, considering their characteristics of disciplines, specialties as well as the actual work, organized the freshmen to have the "first class", guiding them to set up great ideals, abide by academic ethics and academic norms and contribute to the development of the country with their new ideas in thesis.
Online registration
The cloud teaching was conducted smoothly. In order to maintain the organization and management of teaching works for the 2022 postgraduate freshmen during the anti-pandemic period and ensure the quality of online teaching, according to the requirements of pandemic prevention and control of the university, the Graduate Student Affairs Office of the Party Committee and the Graduate School timely issued the Notice on the Arrangement of Work Related to Online Teaching of Graduate Students in the First Semester of 2022-2023 Academic Year, providing a thorough plan and scientific arrangement in advance to make elaborate arrangements for the course teaching of the 2022 postgraduate students. All training units and faculties actively implemented the teaching plan, arranged teaching tasks and made good preparations for teaching according to the course content and actual situation. They made full use of various online teaching platforms such as Super Star Learning, Rain Classroom, Tencent Meeting (Classroom) and QQ Group Classroom to prepare online teaching materials, make online teaching plans and test online teaching equipment. On September 19, the university fully launched the online teaching work for the 2022 postgraduates. A total of 61 courses were delivered on that day, with the attendance of more than 2,300 postgraduates. On the first day, the online teaching platform worked well, the classroom teaching atmosphere was excellent, and the attendance rate of postgraduates reached 98.9%.
Online teaching
Online teaching was well-supervised. In order to strengthen the quality online teaching, the Graduate Student Affairs Office of the Party Committee, Graduate School and each training unit continuously tracked the learning status of postgraduates during online teaching, timely understood, found and solved any problems encountered by faculties and students in online teaching, and monitored the online teaching in real time. Each training unit was required to strengthen the management of online teaching of courses, check and count up the online teaching, and save screenshots of teaching activities to ensure the order and quality of teaching. On September 19, the postgraduate teaching supervision team of the university, the main person in charge of the Graduate School, and the postgraduate teaching supervision group of the university inspected the online teaching of postgraduate courses, platform operation, classroom order and atmosphere and teaching effect. The results of the inspection show that teachers and students of all the inspected courses were on time for class, teachers were well prepared and taught meticulously, and the postgraduates were earnestly listening to the lectures. The overall online teaching was smooth and orderly thanks to the satisfactory performance of the platform.
Online supervision scene
Going forward, the Graduate Student Affairs Office of the Party Committee and the Graduate School will fully implement the guidelines from the National Conference on Postgraduate Education, continuously enhance the fine management, coordinate and plan with all training units to ensure orderly online teaching, and take multiple measures to flexibly adjust the arrangement of online teaching activities according to the situation of pandemic prevention and control, handle the interface between theoretical course teaching and practical guidance to the maximum extent, strengthen supervisors’ remote guidance for postgraduates, and do solid work in the pre-defense of the thesis of the postgraduates, to secure the quality of postgraduate training and welcome the 20th CPC National Congress with practical actions and excellent achievements.
