CDUT Successfully Holds an Online Exchange Meeting with the University of Geological Sciences of Uzbekistan
In order to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) and international universities and enhance the international influence of CDUT, the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation CDUT successfully held an online exchange meeting with the University of Geological Sciences of Uzbekistan on May 31st. The meeting was attended by Fan Xuanmei, director, and Li Shan, deputy director, of the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation CDUT, Rustam Khalmatov, vice-rector, and Firdavs Aminjonov, head of the International Cooperation Department, of the University of Geological Sciences of Uzbekistan, Ye Xiaowei, deputy director, associate research fellow and senior economist of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of Institute for Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Science and Technology Development Strategies, etc., and it was presided over by Li Shan.

In her speech, Fan Xuanmei presented basic information about CDUT's two state key laboratories and sincerely invited the personnel of the University of Geological Sciences to visit CDUT for on-site exchanges. She expressed the hope that more high-level international talents could be jointly cultivated through exchanges, mutual learning and cooperation in teaching and research between both sides.

Li Shan presented CDUT's profile, international exchange and cooperation situation, enrollment programs for international students and cooperation intention and expressed the hope to launch a joint talent cultivation program and enroll students from the University of Geological Sciences for studying in China, so as to contribute to CDUT's branding for international students.

Rustam Khalmatov presented the history, development strategy, disciplines and majors of the University of Geological Sciences and proposed cooperation in such areas as administrative personnel training and exchanges and mutual visits of teachers and students.

During the meeting, both sides discussed details of cooperation in teaching, research, joint talent cultivation, and exchanges and mutual visits of teachers and students, reached a preliminary cooperation intention and planned to sign a university-level memorandum of understanding very soon to effect the cooperative relationship.

It is learned that the University of Geological Sciences of Uzbekistan is a specialized institution of higher education and research in the Republic of Uzbekistan. It cultivates qualified talents in geology for the State Committee on Geology, mining companies and other economic sectors and conducts research. Under it, there is the H. M. Abdullayev Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Institute of Mineral Resources, Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, Institute of Geology and Exploration of Oil and Gas Deposits, Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of Geological Staff, and State Geological Museum.
