A Group Led by Pongrak Sribanditmongkol, President of Chiang Mai University, Thailand Visits CDUT

On the morning of May 8th, a group of eight people led by Pongrak Sribanditmongkol, president, and Pitipong Yodmongkol, vice president, of Chiang Mai University, Thailand visited Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) for exchanges. A symposium between both sides was held in the Third Conference Room of CDUT's Administrative Building. The symposium was attended by personnel of CDUT, including Gong Hao, secretary of the Party Committee, Zeng Ying, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president, heads of relevant functional departments and colleges/schools as well as representatives of research personnel, and was chaired by Zeng Ying.

Gong Hao stated that Chiang Mai University is one of the oldest universities in Thailand and enjoys a high reputation and influence in Asia; based on the same goals and pursuits, CDUT has had preliminary exchanges and cooperation with Chiang Mai University earlier, and this symposium will enhance mutual understanding, provide more exchange platforms and innovation cooperation opportunities between teachers and students of both universities, drive the mutually beneficial, win-win and common development of both universities and promote the sister-city relationship between Chengdu and Chiang Mai as well as the friendship between the two peoples.

Pongrak Sribanditmongkol expressed thanks for CDUT's reception. He stated that CDUT, a university included in the "double world-class project" of the Ministry of Education of China, has outstanding teaching and research capabilities in disciplines including geology and has made prominent contributions in the field of geological hazard prevention and control and that the two universities have huge potential for cooperation and can subsequently conduct further cooperation in research, exchanges of teachers and students, and geological hazard prevention and control.

During the symposium, the participants watched the promotional videos of the two universities, and Fan Xuanmei, director of the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation, CDUT, presented basic information about CDUT.

After the symposium, the group led by the president of Chiang Mai University visited CDUT's Arts Building, viewed exhibits at the Sichuan Opera Art Museum and sit in on a class at the College of Communication Science and Art. Then, they visited CDUT's State Key Laboratory of Geohazard Prevention and Geoenvironment Protection and spoke highly of the laboratory.
