To explore the latest advances in number theory and algebra and to promote academic exchange and collaboration among peers, the School of Mathematical Sciences of Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) successfully held the “2026 Number Theory and Algebra Seminar” from June 12 to 15. The conference brought together more than 200 faculty members and students from over 20 universities and research institutions, including Fudan University, Nanjing University, Sichuan University, Chongqing University, Capital Normal University, and the University of Arizona in the United States.

Professor Peng Liangang, Director of the Mathematics Research Center at CDUT, noted that the symposium should serve as an opportunity to further strengthen academic ties with domestic and international peers and to foster long-term, stable, and in-depth cooperation.
Zhou Zhongli, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Chengdu University of Technology Committee and Vice President of the university, introduced the development foundation and distinctive features of the university’s mathematics discipline. He emphasized that the symposium would inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the discipline and provide a new platform for growth. He further noted that the School of Mathematical Sciences should take this opportunity to establish long-term and stable collaboration mechanisms with experts, and, through diversified approaches such as academic seminars, joint research projects, and collaborative talent cultivation, jointly explore frontier research directions, address key scientific challenges, continuously improve the quality of the doctoral degree program, and strive to cultivate first-class mathematical talent and high-level research achievements, thereby comprehensively enhancing the overall strength and innovation capacity of the university’s mathematics discipline.
During the seminar, more than ten experts and scholars delivered academic reports on core issues, recent advances, and interdisciplinary directions in number theory and algebra, sharing cutting-edge research results and engaging in in-depth discussions.

The successful holding of this symposium provided a high-level and professional academic platform for experts and scholars in number theory and algebra. It facilitated the exchange and dissemination of frontier research achievements, further enhanced the academic influence of the mathematics discipline at CDUT, and laid a solid foundation for future in-depth academic collaboration and scientific research cooperation.
