Recently, the Fifth National Elite Cup Foreign-Related Moot Court Competition concluded successfully. The event was held under the guidance of the Legal Education Research Association of the China Law Society, jointly hosted by the China Legal Exchange Foundation and the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Justice, and co-organized by the School of Law of Beijing Institute of Technology, the Chongqing Lawyers Association, and the College of International Law and Sociology of Sichuan International Studies University. A joint team formed by the Law School (School of Discipline Inspection and Supervision) of Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) and Shanghai AllBright Law Offices (Chengdu) distinguished itself amid fierce competition among top contenders nationwide. The team secured the First Prize in the Team Category and the Outstanding Organization Award. Zhang Kaiyue, an undergraduate law student from the Class of 2023, was named an Outstanding Debater for her exceptional performance, while faculty advisors Zhang Maoli and Wu Tao received the title of Outstanding Coaches—achieving a “grand slam.

This year’s competition attracted teams from 42 leading law schools across China, along with several well-known law firms. Benchmark institutions such as China University of Political Science and Law and Southwest University of Political Science and Law fielded strong teams, resulting in a participant scale nearly double that of the previous edition and an especially intense competitive atmosphere.

Since the launch of the competition in July, the university has attached great importance to the event. Under the overall coordination of Guo Feng, Dean of the Law School, comprehensive support was provided in areas including resource allocation, team formation, and training guidance. The competition team adopted a diversified collaborative model integrating academia and legal practice, as well as undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and international students. During the preparation period, team members worked with clear role assignments and close coordination, repeatedly analyzing core issues of the case and refining written submissions. In the final sprint, they conducted intensive mock trials, working overtime to overcome challenges related to language proficiency, differences in legal reasoning, and professional complexity.

The Law School of CDUT secured four categories of honors—team, individual, coaching, and organizational awards—demonstrating the team’s comprehensive strength and underscoring the university’s excellence in both foreign-related legal talent cultivation and competition organization. Moving forward, the School will continue to uphold the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education. Leveraging high-level national practice platforms such as the “Elite Cup,” it will further optimize the collaborative training model between universities and law firms, deepen cooperation with high-quality legal institutions, and continuously strengthen the cultivation of foreign-related legal professionals, contributing more talents with international vision, professional competence, and practical expertise to China’s foreign-related rule of law development.
