From August 16 to 19, the Fifth National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers concluded at the Beijing Institute of Technology. The team led by Professor Shao Huaiyong of the College of Geography and Planning at CDUT earned the national second prize in the “Emerging Engineering: Senior Engineer” category after a rigorous contest.
The Contest, overseen by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education and hosted by the China Association of Higher Education, is among the most prestigious, far-reaching, and influential events in China’s higher education sector. This year, more than 127,000 faculty members entered the campus-level rounds, with 34,000 advancing to the provincial stage. Ultimately, 2,253 teachers representing 588 courses qualified for the national finals. Following expert review, 88 teachers (or teams) received first prizes, 205 were awarded second prizes, and 295 won third prizes.
CDUT placed strong emphasis on preparing for the Contest. Led by Vice President Zeng Guoqiang, we established a dedicated working group and developed a comprehensive support system covering every stage of the process. The Office of Academic Affairs coordinated resources across and beyond CDUT, inviting distinguished teachers and competition experts to provide targeted training and tailored guidance for participating faculty teams.
Going forward, CDUT will continue to advance teaching reforms, encourage faculty to explore new models of instruction, and further enhance teaching capacity. The university remains committed to cultivating a new generation of well-rounded socialist builders and successors, equipped with moral integrity, intellectual strength, physical fitness, aesthetic appreciation, and practical skills.
