China National Committee for the Wellbeing of the Next Generation (CNCWNG) of the Ministry of Education has recently disclosed the winners of the 2023 "Understanding China" Campaign. Among the 332 videos recommended by universities across the country, the work submitted by CDUT, titled "Stay True to the Geological Roots and Courageously Shoulder the Mission of the Era," was selected as the Best Short Video. The video features an interview with Mr. Liu Xingshi, a well-known popular science writer at CDUT, who is 93 years old. CDUT was also honored as a Commended Unit for the campaign.

The "Understanding China" Campaign, organized by CNCWNG, is designed to encourage young students to engage with influential "Five Elders" through interviews and conversations, documenting their inspiring stories in both written and video formats. This initiative aims to distill the "Five Elders'" excellent spiritual qualities and educate young students to cultivate a profound sense of patriotism, guiding them to become idealistic, courageous, hardworking, and determined young people of the new era.
