On February 29, the online opening ceremony for CDUT - UCE Chinese Class was successfully conducted. Gustavo Pinto Arteaga, Dean of the School of Geological, Mining, Petroleum and Environmental Engineering at the Central University of Ecuador (UCE), Santiago Sanguña, Director of the Language Academic Center, Li Jun, Deputy General Manager of Ecuador Branch of Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Co., Ltd. (CCDC) at China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Zhang Bin, Director of the Technical Services Department at CCDC, Tang Lunshuai, Deputy Director of the Technical Services Department, Liu Yongzhi, Dean of CDUT College of Foreign Languages & Cultures, Li Shan, Deputy Director of the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation, Guo Fengming, Vice Dean of CDUT College of Foreign Languages & Cultures, Chen Qian, Head of the International Student Section at the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation, Liu Hao, Foreign Affairs Officer, Chinese language teachers Zhang Yu, and Fu Yuwei, along with 100 selected students from two Chinese language courses at UCE, attended the opening ceremony, which was hosted by Santiago Sanguña.

In his speech, Gustavo Pinto Arteaga expressed that the education and research cooperation agreement signed between the two universities has opened a new era of collaboration for academic and professional development of students and researchers from both sides. He hopes that CDUT and UCE can further deepen exchanges and cooperation in the future.
Santiago Sanguña, in his address, sincerely thanked CDUT for its efforts and contributions to the construction of the Chinese course, and encouraged students to work hard and persevere in learning Chinese.
Li Jun introduced the cooperative development relationship between CCDC and UCE. He stated that the establishment of the Chinese course is a significant move for CDUT and UCE to further solidify their cooperation. He hopes that students can overcome difficulties and move forward courageously.
Liu Yongzhi briefly introduced the development and construction of the College of Foreign Languages & Cultures, hoping that students would cherish the opportunity to learn and believe that hard work will be rewarded.
Li Shan, on behalf of the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation at CDUT, expressed gratitude to UCE, CCDC, and the College of Foreign Languages & Cultures for their strong support and dedication to the Chinese class. She mentioned that the education and research cooperation agreement signed between the two universities marks a substantive development in their collaboration. The establishment of the Chinese language course is not only the first step in our university’s overseas education but also a significant measure to further solidify the cooperation between the two universities. She hopes that students can persevere, gain a deeper understanding of Chinese history and culture, and contribute to the vibrant friendship between China and Ecuador.
Finally, Zhang Yu and Fu Yuwei advised students to cherish their time, stay grounded, appreciate the cultural charm of the Chinese language, and wished them success in their studies, practical application, and becoming inheritors of the friendship between China and Ecuador.

The successful launch of this Chinese course is an important achievement in CDUT’s exploration of further cooperation with UCE. It holds great significance for students and faculty at UCE to understand Chinese history and culture and serves as a bridge for the friendship between China and Ecuador. Simultaneously, it lays a solid foundation for further academic and research cooperation, faculty and student exchanges, and international curriculum development between China and Ecuador.
