To further promote the in-depth integration of industry, academia, research, and application, and enhance the quality of innovative talent cultivation, on the afternoon of January 29th, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation framework agreement between CDUT and Sichuan Geological Survey Research Institute (hereinafter referred as the Institute) was held in the Hongbin Hall on the second floor of the North Building of Tianchen Tower in Chengdu. Xu Qiang, President of CDUT, and Jiang Jun, Party Secretary and President of the Provincial Geological Survey Institute, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Zeng Ying, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of CDUT, and Zhang Xin and Deng Shuangling, members of the Party Committee and Vice Presidents of the Institute, attended the signing ceremony. The meeting was chaired by Jiang Jun.

Xu Qiang, on behalf of CDUT, expressed gratitude for the invitation from the Institute. He stated that CDUT has been seizing the opportunity of the “Double First Class” construction, relying on two key national laboratories and other high-tech platforms, and implementing the “Everest Scientific Research Project” at a high level. CDUT has gathered many high-end talents and research teams, possessing significant advantages in talent cultivation, technological innovation, technical research, and cultural heritage. He pointed out that the research areas of CDUT and the Institute are basically the same, proposing that both sides should deepen cooperation, establish a “Three Mutuals” mode of mutual learning, mutual assistance, and mutual sharing, and achieve resource sharing, complementary advantages, and mutual benefit. He hopes that both sides can leverage their respective strengths in talent cultivation, technology transfer, and innovation, providing greater support and making more significant contributions to national major strategies. He looks forward to both sides, based on the principles of mutual benefit and win-win, establishing a long-term, comprehensive, and in-depth strategic cooperative relationship, progressively carrying out various practical cooperation within the framework.

Jiang Jun, on behalf of the Institute, extended a warm welcome to Xu Qiang and his delegation. He introduced that as a provincial research institute, they’ve always been focused on standardized construction in three aspects: natural resources management, economic and social development, and resource and environmental surveys across the province. The Institute has fully utilized its existing advantageous resources for transformation and development. He mentioned that CDUT, as a high-level applied university with distinctive advantages, has vigorously promoted the transformation of scientific research achievements into practical productivity and has cultivated many outstanding talents, making significant contributions to national construction and social development. He expressed the hope that both sides will continue to deepen cooperation, establish diverse platforms, promote the in-depth integration of industry, education, research, and application development, and carry out substantive cooperation in various fields such as talent cultivation, discipline construction, technological innovation, and geological research.

Zeng Ying and Deng Shuangling, representing both parties, signed the strategic cooperation framework agreement. Both sides will seize the opportunity for cooperation, further refine project-based collaborative matters, continue to promote exchanges and mutual assistance between CDUT and the Institute, enhance the capabilities of both sides in addressing significant resource and environmental issues, and problems related to Earth system science. They will work together to build a high-level university with more prominent characteristics and a first-class domestic comprehensive research and scientific research institution in natural resources.
