Recently, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) issued the Notice on the Publication of the List of Selected Candidates for the 9th Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program (YESS). Zhang Weizhen, a professor from the College of Ecology and Environment at CDUT, has been honored with sponsorship (financial support from CAST).
Zhang Weizhen, a research fellow who graduated from Fudan University with a major in Environmental Science and Engineering, is a key talent introduced through CDUT’s “Everest Scientific Research Project”. Currently, he has published over 40 academic papers, filed for more than 80 patents (including 10 international patents), and led/participated in over 10 research projects. He is recognized as a young talent in Sichuan Province’s “Tianfu Emei Plan,” an entrepreneurial leader in the “Loong City Talent” program, and an advanced individual awarded the 11th Golden Bridge Award by the China Technology Market Association. Previously, he served as the station manager of the Taihu Research Base of the Urban Area Pollution Control Center at Fudan University. His achievements include winning Gold and Silver Awards at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, as well as the first prize for innovation in the China Association of Inventions’ Invention and Entrepreneurship Award.
Initiated by the CAST, YESS has been providing selective support to the specific implementation of national societies or union bodies affiliated with CAST. In accordance with the requirements outlined in the Opinions on Implementing the Innovation and Service Capability Enhancement Project for Societies by CAST, the YESS is designed to guide and support societies in exploring and innovating the selection mechanisms, training models, and evaluation standards for young scientific and technological talents. The goal is to nurture and cultivate a large number of outstanding young talents in science and technology, create a reserve force of high-level scientific and technological innovation talents for the nation, and contribute to the realization of the Chinese Dream by building a crucial human resource support system for innovation.
