From January 10th to 11th, The 21st China International Software Cooperation Conference, themed “New Journey, New Track, New Change,” was held in Chengdu. This conference, was hosted by the Chengdu Municipal People’s Government, Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Department, University of Electronic Science and Technology, China Center for Information Industry Development, and The OpenAtom Foundation. Li Dongfen, from the College of Computer Science and Cyber Security at CDUT, was invited as an "Influential Figure in 2023 Development of Renowned Software City in China, Chengdu" to the event.

The conference released multiple lists including “Influential Enterprises in 2023 Development of the Renowned Software City in China, Chengdu”, “Influential Figures in 2023 Development of the Renowned Software City in China, Chengdu”, and “Influential Products in 2023 Development of the Renowned Software City in China, Chengdu”. These recognitions aim to foster independent software innovation, deepen the integration and application of software, and drive high-quality development within the industry. Among the honorees, Li Dongfen from CDUT was recognized as an Influential Figure in the 2023 Development of the Renowned Software City in China, Chengdu, being one of only five individuals affiliated with CDUT to receive this distinction. Reportedly, individuals on these lists have been actively involved in national strategic initiatives, including innovation in the five major software sectors, establishment of specialized software colleges, and development of clusters.

In recent years, Chengdu has actively aligned with and deeply integrated into national strategies. By focusing on leading projects and being driven by industry chain leaders, the city has been advancing the development of high-end software clusters and strengthening industry chains. In 2023, Chengdu's software industry witnessed the signing of 26 high-end software and operating system industry chain projects, including the Sichuan Euler Ecosystem Innovation Center and the ChinaSoft International (Sichuan) Ecological Base, with a total investment of approximately 36.5 billion yuan. Following preliminary engagements and discussions, this conference yielded significant results. A number of major software industry projects were signed at the main conference event, with the total amount nearing 7 billion yuan.
The China International Software Cooperation Conference is a national platform for software industry development cooperation and exchange, consistently hosted by Chengdu over the years and has been held for 20 consecutive editions. Over the past two decades, the conference has served as a barometer for the software industry in the central-western region and the entire country. It has propelled and witnessed the rapid growth in scale, continuous enhancement in brand strength, and sustained improvement in quality of Chengdu's software industry. This has laid a solid foundation for Chengdu to rank among the top echelons of the “Renowned Software Cities in China” and strive towards becoming a world-renowned software city. Today, the software industry has emerged as a pillar industry for the entire city.
