On December 26, 2023, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Science and Technology formally announced the list of National Natural Resources Science Education Bases for 2023. Among the 50 centers nationwide that met the evaluation criteria, the museum at CDUT stood out as the sole representative from Sichuan Province.

The museum at CDUT houses an extensive collection encompassing various domains such as geology, paleontology, minerals, rocks, and mineral resources. Building upon CDUT’s strengths in earth sciences, the museum has established itself as a significant platform for educating the broader public about natural resources, both within the province and beyond.

In 2023, the CDUT Museum made significant strides in its development, notably with the independent creation of the "Xiao Long Ren" Public Science Popularization Matrix. This initiative, aimed at promoting and popularizing natural science knowledge both within the museum and to the broader public, has been highly acclaimed across various social sectors. The museum's achievements extend beyond its successful designation as a National Natural Resources Science Education Center. It also received reaccreditation as a National Science Popularization Education Base and was recognized as an Integrated Base for Ideological and Political Education in primary, secondary, and university-level education in Sichuan Province. Presently, the CDUT Museum holds two national-level science popularization accreditations and three provincial-level educational accreditations in Sichuan. In addition, it has been honored as an Outstanding Social Science Popularization Base in Sichuan Province, “Sichuan Meets Science Popularization in 2023” Natural Space of Science, and a Sichuan Science Sharing Base for its notable contributions in the Sichuan-Chongqing area during the first Sichuan-Chongqing Science Popularization Conference. Moreover, it ranked eighth in the "Top 100 Most Popular Internet-famous Sites in Sichuan Province" event, jointly organized by the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and other entities.

In the future, the CDUT Museum plans to adhere to the guidelines set forth for National Natural Resources Science Education Centers. Under the guidance of science popularization authorities at the provincial, municipal, and district levels, it will strengthen its collaboration with various colleges and departments of CDUT, continuing enhancing the museum’s effectiveness in natural resource conservation, research, and science education. Committed to elevating public scientific literacy, the museum aims to make a more substantial contribution to the promotion and development of natural resource science popularization in China.
