On October 4, 2023, Stanford University published the World’s Top 2% Scientists rankings for 2023, and five scholars from Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) are named in the “Career-Long Impact List.”
The World’s Top 2% Scientists list is created in collaboration between a team of Stanford experts led by Professor John P. A. Ioannidis and Elsevier. The results are published on Elsevier’s Mendeley Data website.
The rankings are based on the Scopus database. Employing six indicators, including citations, h-index, and hm-index, the researchers have enumerated the top 2% most-cited scientists from 22 fields and 176 subfields among nearly 7 million scientists worldwide. And this list is divided into “Career-Long Impact List,” which focuses on a scholar’s overall academic impact throughout their career, and “Single-Year Impact List,” which highlights a scholar’s academic achievements in the previous year.
Five scholars from CDUT, namely Huang Runqiu, James G. Ogg, Xu Qiang, Theo Van Asch, and Li Tianbin, have been featured in the World’s Top 2% Scientists for their career-long impact. Additionally, fourteen scholars, including Huang Runqiu, Xu Qiang, James G. Ogg, Fan Xuanmei, Li Chao, Li Tianbin, Pu Shengyan, Zeng Guangyong, Li Xiaoke, Long Jianping, Wang Lei, Olusola Bamisile, Tang Chuan, and Li Junfeng, have been included on the list of Single-Year Impact.
Being included in the list signifies these scholars’ global impact in their respective research fields. Their substantial contributions have garnered considerable attention from the international academic community. Meanwhile, this accomplishment reflects the effectiveness of CDUT’s discipline development and research capabilities, and it plays a positive role in further enhancing the university’s global influence.
