An exchange meeting on the preparations for the building of the National University Science Park of Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) was held on the morning of August 30th in the second-floor conference room of Zhiyuan Building, to make further preparations therefor. Three experts, including Geng Zhanxiu, former deputy director-general (leading role of the department) of the Department of High and New Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Meng Aiguo, former deputy inspector of the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province, and Cheng Yimin, former investigator of the Division of High and New Technology of the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province, were present to provide guidance, and the meeting was attended by Xu Qiang, vice president of CDUT, and related leaders from CDUT's Industrial Development Research Institute and College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Chengdu University of Technology Assets Management Co., Ltd. and Chengdu University of Technology Science Park Development Co., Ltd.
Xu Qiang extended a warm welcome to the experts who came to CDUT to provide guidance on the building of the National University Science Park. He presented CDUT's development history, scientific research, discipline construction and talent cultivation situations and stated that applying for the National University Science Park is an important task in CDUT's construction of the "double world-class project". Leaders from CDUT's Industrial Development Research Institute and Chengdu University of Technology Assets Management Co., Ltd. reported on the sci-tech achievement transformation, sci-tech innovation enterprises incubation and innovative talents cultivation within CDUT's University Science Park. From his years of experience in the recognition, management and evaluation of national university science parks, in conjunction with related national policies at present, Geng Zhanxiu provided the following opinions: first, CDUT's attention to the building of the National University Science Park is highly important: he fully affirmed CDUT leadership's great attention to, and pooling of the university's resources to fully support, the building of the National University Science Park; second, the building direction should be firmly grasped: the National University Science Park should be built closely around its main functions and should be substantialized and strengthened in aspects including sci-tech achievement transformation, sci-tech innovation enterprises incubation, innovative talents cultivation and university-locality coordinated development; third, recognition conditions should be implemented one by one: he interpreted in detail the recognition conditions for national university science parks in the Administrative Measures for National University Science Parks, emphasized the difficulties, pain points and ignorable details in the building process and provided pertinent guidance for the subsequent preparations for the building of the National University Science Park. Meng Aiguo and Cheng Yimin also provided valuable insights from aspects including the main functions of the National University Science Park, enterprise incubation and open and collaborative development. Attendees listened carefully to the experts' opinions and had in-depth exchanges with the experts regarding difficulties and uncertainties encountered in current preparations.
Xu Qiang expressed gratitude for the valuable opinions and suggestions provided by the experts and highly affirmed the effectiveness of the exchange meeting in expanding working ideas and indicating the direction for the subsequent preparations for the building of the National University Science Park. He also made arrangements for the next steps and expressed the hope that all science park staff members will earnestly understand and absorb the experts' opinions and suggestions, raise awareness, conduct active planning, take initiative, overcome difficulties and go all out to make preparations for the building of the National University Science Park, so as to provide strong support for CDUT's construction of the "double first-class project".
