CDUT Wins the Second Award for National-level Academic Achievement in Higher Education (Graduate Level) in 2022

Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the decision to approve the winning projects of the 2022 National-level Academic Achievement Awards (Teacher [2023] No. 4). The project "Continuous Construction and Application of Graduate-level Sedimentary Geology Series Textbooks" led by Professor Tian Jingchun from CDUT won the Second Award for National-level Academic Achievement in Higher Education (Graduate Level). This is the first time that CDUT has won the National-level Academic Achievement Award in Higher Education (Graduate Level), marking a historic breakthrough in the reform of our school's graduate education and teaching!

The academic achievement focuses on the training of graduate students in sedimentary geology, addressing three major issues: the lack of a carrier for the knowledge system, the difficulty in integrating training components, and the need to strengthen distinctive abilities. The project has been continuously advancing the construction of a series of graduate-level textbooks in sedimentary geology. It has established a new concept of continuous construction for graduate textbooks with the characteristics of systematic textbook development and ability-building. For the first time, it has created an organic integration of the "Theory-Experiment-Practice" modules in the series of graduate-level textbooks in sedimentary geology, highlighting a three-dimensional new knowledge map formed by the integration of interdisciplinary and scientific education. The series of textbooks showcases the cutting edge, direction, and dynamics of the discipline, forming an interconnected and continuous knowledge chain in sedimentary geology, achieving an organic fusion of theoretical, experimental, and practical teaching for graduate students. This achievement has received full recognition and high praise from experts at home and abroad. The Expert Appraisal Committee believes that the achievement demonstrates strong innovation, significant practical effects, and outstanding social contributions, leading the construction of graduate-level textbooks in China.

In recent years, CDUT has been actively contemplating and proactively seeking changes, focusing on the fundamental task of promoting virtues. Since the National Conference on Graduate Education, CDUT has aligned its graduate education with the national strategic needs in the new era, with new missions and new journeys. In April 2021, CDUT held its first graduate education work conference in recent years. With the goal of achieving high-level graduate education and guided by the Implementation Opinions on Deepening Graduate Education Reform and Innovative Development at CDUT, CDUT has made significant progress in comprehensively reforming graduate education and innovatively developing the "Double First-Class" initiative. Substantial achievements have been made in student cultivation mechanisms, training models, curriculum design with ideological and political education elements, and the construction of case databases. These efforts have led to a series of high-quality educational achievements and continuous improvement in the quality of talent cultivation.

The National-level Academic Achievement Awards is an important measure in implementing the strategy of revitalizing China through science and education, building a strong country with talented individuals, and putting the fundamental task of promoting virtues into effect. This recognition of the National-level Academic Achievement Award in Higher Education (Graduate Level) is a commendation for CDUT's active exploration and practical implementation of graduate education and teaching reforms.
