In order to fully implement the spirit of the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping at the Third Meeting of the Central Finance and Economics Commission, and better support the early exploration for the construction of Sichuan-Tibet Railway, China Academy of Railway Sciences Group Co., Ltd. organized an expert consultation meeting on the results of the project "Research on Key Technologies of Complex Water-heat Disaster Control for Deep Buried Long Tunnel of Sichuan-Tibet Railway", which is Subject 7 of "Preliminary Study on Key Technical Scheme and Engineering Countermeasures of Sichuan Tibet Railway". The meeting held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Yidong International Hotel, Chengdu, was hosted by CDUT, the university in charge of Subject 7. Wu Guang, professor of Southwest Jiaotong University, You Yong, researcher of Chengdu Institute of Mountain Research, Song Jun, professor level senior engineer of Exploration Technology Research Institute of China Geological Survey, Zheng Wanmo, professor level senior engineer of Chengdu Geological Survey Center of China Geological Survey, Li Qianyin, professor level senior engineer of Sichuan Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, were invited as consulting experts. Besides, representatives of all departments of Subject 7, including China Railway Academy Co., Ltd., China Railway Economic and Planning Research Institute, China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and China Railway First Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd., attended the meeting.

The meeting was presided over by Prof. Wu Guang. At first, Liu Lei, deputy researcher of the responsible department China Academy of Railway Sciences Group Co., Ltd., introduced the background, objective, theme and progress of the subject. Then, our representative Zhang Qiang, combined with the research results of the circulation evolution model of shallow groundwater flow system along the Sichuan-Tibet Railway and the regional hot water system and circulation evolution model of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, reported the water-heat problems and evaluation methods of the key deep buried long tunnels along the Sichuan-Tibet Railway. And Ma Xianchun, senior engineer of China Railway Academy Co., Ltd. reported the research on water-heat disaster prediction technology of deep buried long tunnel on the basis of structure and mode of disaster caused by sudden water inflow in Sichuan-Tibet Railway Tunnel Project. At last, Zhang Jinlong, assistant researcher of China Academy of Railway Sciences Group Co., Ltd., introduced the research results of new waterproof and drainage system, rapid construction and heat insulation technology in humid and hot environment.

After full inquiry and discussion, these present experts believed that the stage results were comprehensive and informative, which can provide technical support for the design of Sichuan-Tibet railway. In the next step, all sides should focus on the needs of Sichuan-Tibet railway construction, and refer to the advanced technical measures of other industries, do further research and strive for greater breakthroughs.

On October 12, 2018, China Railway Corporation held a mobilization meeting to deploy the preliminary work of Sichuan-Tibet railway construction. In December 2018, China Railway Group has officially launched the major systematic project "Preliminary Study on Key Technical Scheme and Engineering Countermeasures of Sichuan Tibet Railway". Meanwhile, our Prof. Xu Mo was appointed to undertake Subject 7, "Research on Key Technologies of Complex Water-heat Disaster Control for Deep Buried Long Tunnel of Sichuan-Tibet Railway".
