May 8, 2020, a group of 3 visitors from Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County People's Government, including Deputy Head Deng Yong, visited our school for research and communication. Xu Qiang, Vice President of CDUT and Executive Deputy Director of the Lab, Hou Mingcai, Dean of the Graduate School, and Wen Huaguo, Dean of the Institute of Sedimentary Geology, and leaders from the School of Environment and Civil Engineering，CDUT and SKLGP participated in the seminar.
Deng Yong said that 12 years after the Wenchuan Earthquake, the number of geohazard spots in Beichuan has been reduced from more than 1300 to 200. Relying on its professional advantages, Chengdu University of Technology has carried out geohazard-related research with remarkable achievements and made important contributions to Beichuan's disaster prevention and mitigation work. Beichuan hopes to continue to cooperate with CDUT and make full use of the geological advantages of Beichuan's "Natural Museum of Geohazards" and "International Standard Profile of Devonian" to build Beichuan into an innovative demonstration base for the deep integration of "Industry-University-Institute". In the 30th International Geological Congress, the Longmenshan Ganxi Devonian Profile was identified as the standard profile of China's Devonian, attracting a large number of scholars from home and abroad to visit and study on. Such strengths should be exploited to create geoparks and science bases that are truly exemplary.
Xu Qiang expressed his full support for Beichuan to build an innovative demonstration base for "industry-university-institute". CDUT and Beichuan have built a landslide teaching and research base, Beichuan Devonian sedimentation and sequence stratigraphy field base, iRALL School field base, etc. Such demonstration base should start with scientific research, and gradually carry out teaching practice, emergency rescue training, etc., drive the local economy and tourism industry, and gradually become an "internet-famous destination" for science popularization and tourism.And he suggested that the Beichuan People's Government should integrate the resources of all parties and do an overall planning and design.
