On May 15, 2020, five people, including Yang Zhanjun, deputy director of the Department of Natural Resources of Qinghai Province, came to our university to exchange relevant experience. Xu Qiang, vice president of Chengdu University of Technology and executive deputy director of the laboratory, Ju Nnengpan, director of the department of the planning and discipline construction, Pei Xiangjun, dean of the College of Ecological Environment, Zhao Jianjun, deputy director of the laboratory, Fan Xuanmei, deputy director of the laboratory and other teachers attended the meeting.
On behalf of the school, Xu Qiang warmly welcomed Yang Zhanjun and his party and briefly introduced the general situation, development process and research results of CDUT. He sincerely hoped that through in-depth cooperation, these advanced scientific research technologies and products could be applied to the ecological environment protection in Qinghai Province. The two sides jointly promoted the construction in national strategic layout and the high-quality development of the local economy. Fan Xuanmei specifically introduced the history and research direction of the laboratory, emphasizing the importance of regional geological environment assessment and protection and major geological disaster monitoring and early warning for ecological environment protection in Qinghai Province.
Yang Zhanjun cited that “Qinghai province should take ecological work as its top priority” said by Xi Jinping, general secretary of CPC during his visit in Qinghai. As the “source of three rivers” and “water tower of China”, how to protect Qinghai’s ecological environment has become a major test topic for government personnel. Yang hoped that with the help of the scientific research strength and independent innovation ability of universities, efforts will be made to strengthen the protection and restoration of Qinghai’s ecological system, including the risk control of major geological disasters and the ecological protection and restoration of important ecological areas.
The two sides have conducted in-depth exchanges on deepening strategic cooperation. Pei Xiangjun, taking the post-earthquake ecological restoration of Jiuzhaigou as an example, elaborated several key technological breakthroughs in ecological protection and restoration, and proposed new concepts for eight levels of ecological protection and restoration and for protection and restoration in functional areas. Given platform system of geological disaster monitoring in Guizhou Province and big data disaster prevention system of geological disaster in Sichuan Province, Ju Nengpan emphasized the core issues of major geological disaster prevention and control, and put forward the idea of building a “geological disaster risk management and control system in Qinghai Province”, according to the main characteristics of Qinghai’s geological disaster.
