On the afternoon of May 15, a party of eight guests from PetroChina Southwest Pipeline Company, headed by deputy general manager Liu Kuirong and director Zhu Jianping, came to CDUT for exchange and discussion. Our vice president Xu Qiang, deputy secretary of CECE Feng Wenkai, and deputy director of SKLGP Zhao Jianjun, as well as other relevant teachers attended the symposium, which was presided over by Xu.

At first, Feng Wenkai introduced the basic situation of our lab, and then stated our work and progress in the geohazard assessment of oil and gas pipelines, pipeline online monitoring system and so on.

Liu Kuirong pointed that PetroChina Southwest Pipeline Company is mainly responsible for the operation of the national oil and gas backbone pipeline network, with a length of more than 10000 kilometers, which is an important part of the national oil and gas pipeline network. He hoped that the two sides could cooperate in geohazard prevention and environment protection. Besides, consultant Xian Guodong said that these pipelines pass through Qinling Mountains, Hengduan Mountains, Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Loess Plateau and other geohazard prone areas. Geological disasters along the pipeline are frequent, different, widely and unevenly distributed, which bring risks to pipeline operation.

Xu Qiang said that our lab has rich experience in geohazard prevention and control. For the geohazard treatment along such pipelines, we should make full use of UAV and aerial remote sensing technology, and improve the monitoring and early warning platform.

Liu said he hoped that CDUT could provide technical consultation and services for the construction of oil pipeline geohazard monitoring and early warning platform, and provide support for geohazard prevention and control. He also encouraged us to carry out scientific research and project approval in terms of geohazard tendency and early identification in pipeline routing in the mountainous areas in Southwest China.
