Recently, in order to deeply study and implement the Spirit of the Important Speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping at the Party History Study and Education Mobilization Meeting and the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, and to implement the National Science and Technology Activity Week “Looking Back on the past 100 Years: The Chinese Communist Party Leads the Development of Science and Technology”, College of Environment and Civil Engineering（CDUT）and SKLGP（The State Key Laboratory of Geohazard Prevention and Geoenvironmental Protection) jointly held a special report on Party history learning and education. Nearly 200 teachers representatives and college students who are activists to join the Party attended the conference. In the lecture, Prof. Chen Liyi made a report titled “Remembering the past, looking at the present and developing the future-the yesterday and today of College of Environment and Civil Engineering（CDUT）”, which took the 65-year history of the building of College of Environment and Civil Engineering（CDUT）as the main line and systematically reviewed the glorious history of the struggle of the Party branch of the College and its great contribution to the country and the university with rich examples and accurate data. He also deeply elaborated the original purpose of the last generation of Chinese Communists, the great spirit forged by the long-term struggle and the valuable experience of successfully promoting the reform of SKLGP.

Associate professor Chang Ming gave a report titled “Party Building Leads, Being Heroes in Harm’s Way in Geohazard”. He reviewed the struggle of Staff Party Branch of the SKLGP taking responsibility facing with geohazards from the scientific research, emergency rescues and disaster relief, collaborative innovation and other aspects of the work of College of Environment and Civil Engineering（CDUT）and our laboratory, and made it clear that scientific researchers should actively serve the society and be a “heroes in harm’s way” in geohazards in the process of moving forward.

The participants have expressed that the special lecture on the theme of Party history learning and education has present every teacher and student a deeper understanding of the establishment and development of College of Environment and Civil Engineering（CDUT）and our laboratory with vivid cases and rich contents, and a sense of ideological progress from the hard work of the forefathers. The young students expressed that in the future they would take up the historical mission given by the times bravely and make greater contributions to the whole cause of the Party and the country.
