College  of Tourism and Urban-Rural Planning

Established in 2010, the College of Tourism and Urban-Rural Planning is composed of the Department of Tourism Development and Management, the Department of Urban and Rural Planning, the Department of Architecture, the Department of Horticulture, the Department of Landscape Architecture, and the Laboratory Center for the College  of Tourism and Urban-Rural Planning. Being qualified to issue Bachelor's, Master's and Doctor's degrees, the College offers seven undergraduate degree programs: Tourism Management, Human Geography and Urban and Rural Planning, Urban and Rural Planning, Architecture, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, and Exhibition Economics and Management; Architecture is among the first trial disciplines of the "Excellent Engineers Education and Training Program" of Sichuan Province and is funded by the national comprehensive discipline reform project, Horticulture is one of the first pilot disciplines of the "Prominent Agriculture and Forestry Talent Education and Cultivation Program" of Sichuan Province, Tourism Management is a characteristic discipline of Chengdu University of Technology, and Human Geography and Urban and Rural Planning is supported by the University's Excellent Innovative Team Cultivation Program. The College is approved to issue academic master's degrees in Physical Geography, Human Geography, and Tourism Management, professional master’s degrees in Architecture and Civil Engineering, and Landscape Architecture, master's degrees of Engineering in Tourism Management ( in the field of Tourism Development and Urban and Rural Construction) and Architecture and Civil Engineering (in the field of Architecture), and doctoral degrees in Quaternary Geology, Remote Sensing for Natural Resources and Environment and Mineralogy, Petrology, and Mineral Deposits. With a faculty of 90 members including 2 doctoral supervisors, 10 professors and 21 associate professors, plus 7 guest professors, it has been undertaking over three hundred research projects commissioned by the governments at various levels and businesses, making important contributions to the local socioeconomic growth.

The College has been upholding the academic philosophy of "Pursue the Ultimate Truth and Realize It in Practice", and carrying on the entrepreneurial spirit "not to be outdone but to take the lead". By leveraging the University's disciplines with advantageous resources and environment, it has been developing comprehensive courses of Human Settlement featuring planning and design. With studies focused on big tourism, small townships, landscape architecture and eco-architecture, and emphasis put on its functions of talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, and passing down the cultural heritage, the College has been cultivating creative and entrepreneurial tourism planners, urban and rural planners, architects, landscape designers and horticultural engineers which are urgently needed for the local economic and social development, making itself a college with notable strengths and features.
