Renowned CAE Member Xia Jiawen Conducts Academic Lecture at CDUT

On the afternoon of April 10, 2024, the prestigious "Everest Forum," organized by the Institute of Science and Technology Development and co-hosted by the College of Nuclear Technology and Automation Engineering, and the 62nd session of the NTAE Lectures unfolded in the esteemed hall of the International Academic Lecture Theatre in the Ninth Teaching Building. Xia Jiawen, a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering and renowned physicist and engineering expert in heavy ion accelerators, graced the stage to deliver an enlightening academic lecture to faculty and students alike. The event was gracefully presided over by Professor Zeng Ying, a Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of CDUT. The entire cadre of leadership from the College of Nuclear Technology and Automation Engineering, alongside distinguished student representatives, eagerly absorbed the wisdom shared during the lecture.

Xia Jiawen delved into a comprehensive exploration themed on "The Scientific Significance and Societal Impact of Heavy Ion Accelerators". From the genesis of heavy ions to the realms of nuclear physics and the practical applications of heavy ion accelerators, he illuminated each facet with meticulous detail. With an eye toward the future, he offered insightful perspectives and reflections on the trajectory of heavy ion accelerator development, igniting fervent curiosity among students. Infusing his lecture with personal anecdotes and a dash of humor, he effortlessly captured the audience's attention, eliciting rounds of applause and fostering an animated ambiance. Moreover, he instilled in students a fervent call to embrace critical thinking, urging them to delve deeper into scientific inquiry and to chart a course of rigorous academic pursuit, and empowering them to craft a clear roadmap for their future endeavors.

Finally, students actively participated in a dynamic exchange, delving deeper into the theme explored by Xia Jiawen.
