Staff Union of CDUT Carries Out Activities to Celebrate the International Women’s Day in 2024

In the vibrant spring of March, as blooming flowers bask in the warm sunshine, the 114th International Women’s Day has arrived. The Staff Union of CDUT organized a series of celebration activities for the International Women’s Day under the theme “Showcasing Elegance, Radiating Charm” on March 7th, to enrich the cultural lives of female faculty and staff, earnestly give care and concern for their physical and mental well-being, and unite the strength of women, displaying the charm and elegance of them. According to statistics, more than 1,000 female faculty and staff participated in this event.

In Campus Health Walk dwells wellness. At 1:00 PM on March 7th, nearly a thousand female faculty and staff gathered at the West Sports Field, embarking on a journey through Gingko Garden, Pine Garden, Camphor Restaurant, turning left to the East Teaching Buildings, passing the bridge at the rear school gate, and returning to the West Gymnasium. The total route length is nearly 5 kilometers. Teachers at the Yibin Campus assembled in front of the administrative building, walking through the administrative building, Longgu Bridge, Phase One Restaurant and the teacher’s apartments.

During the event, female faculty and staff were passionate and energetic. They walked along the planned route, forming a magnificent procession through the campus, and becoming a remarkable and charming scenery.

They also embraced traditional Chinese culture. This year, the Staff Union organized a series of activities with the theme “Traditional Chinese Culture Renaissance” for female faculty and staff on the afternoon of March 7th. The activities included things such as “Cultural Handicrafts, Tea Art Appreciation, and Intangible Cultural Heritage Embroidery”. At the handicraft activity site, the atmosphere was lively and focused. Participants, guided by their mentors, created their own Chinese-style beads based on their preferences and shared design inspirations during the event.

During the Tea Art Appreciation, the tea master first narrated the culture of Chinese tea art, and demonstrated the traditional tea brewing ceremony with a series of smooth and elegant movements, from boiling water to warming the teapot, rinsing the tea, to brewing. Female teachers appreciated and learned the tea brewing ceremony, and listened to the culture and philosophy of tea art, fostering friendships through tea and cultivating elegance through tea.

During the Intangible Cultural Heritage Embroidery, the instructor explained the historical background, cultural significance, and basic techniques of embroidery. Everyone listened attentively and focused on their work, creating their own exclusive silk embroidery.

In addition to the activities mentioned above, on the afternoon of March 5th, the Staff Union, School Hospital, and School Overseas Chinese Association, in collaboration with the Chenghua District Overseas Chinese Association and the Second Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Sichuan Province, jointly organized the Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Experience activity named Harmony Lecture Hall, Guardians of Health.” Nearly 150 female faculty and staff participated in this event.

For the celebration of this International Womens Day, the school union prepared heartfelt gifts for female faculty and staff, offering sincere blessings for the festival. At the same time, it provided a platform for teachers to relax and communicate, further inspiring female faculty and staff to continue exerting their feminine strength and wisdom in their respective roles.
