To attract outstanding young professionals and high-level talent from around the world—especially from Europe—and to advance the university’s strategy of strengthening itself through talent development, Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) successfully held the “Linking the Five Continents: Global Talent Recruitment Tour” (UK & Europe Session) on November 15. The event was co-hosted by CDUT and the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party, and jointly organized by the CDUT Branch of the China Zhi Gong Party, the University Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the University Western Returned Scholars Association, and the International College of Education (Oxford Brookes College). Conducted both online and offline, the session attracted more than 100 participants.

In his address, Guo Qiang noted that CDUT has always regarded talent development as the cornerstone of university development. The university has systematically established a talent-recruitment framework centered on the “Everest Talent Program,” aiming to foster a high-level, international, and dynamic environment for talent development.

In his speech, Liang Wei emphasized that the “Linking the Five Continents: Global Talent Recruitment Tour” targets overseas Chinese students and high-level professionals, using dedicated promotion sessions to build a regular and precise talent-recruitment mechanism. He expressed hope that this event would serve as an opportunity to attract more overseas talent to focus on Chengdu, choose Chengdu, and establish their careers in Chengdu.
During the event, Kang Wei, Vice Mayor of the Chongzhou Municipal Government and Deputy Chair of the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party, delivered a special presentation on Chengdu’s urban development, industrial structure, and openness to the world. Xia Qing, Executive Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Liaison Committee of the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party, provided a detailed interpretation of Chengdu’s talent-policy system and its innovation- and entrepreneurship-support measures. Li Xin, Deputy Director of the Human Resources Office of CDUT, outlined the university’s talent-recruitment policies. Professor Wang Xiaoguang, doctoral supervisor from the Colleg of Energy, shared his experiences and insights on career development and personal growth after returning to China from overseas studies.
During the interactive session, overseas participants actively raised questions on topics including talent-policy details, available scientific research platforms, and opportunities for project collaboration. Leaders and relevant officials addressed each question in turn, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere. Both onsite and online attendees agreed that the session was informative, the policies clearly presented, and the services thoughtful—effectively boosting the confidence and determination of overseas talent to return to China and develop their careers in Chengdu.
