On May 28, 2025, a seven-member Sri Lanka Friendship Delegation, accompanied by Vice President Huang Wei of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and one colleague, visited Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) for an official exchange. Director Lang Xianguo, Deputy Director Dong Yi, and staff members from the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation hosted the delegation for a roundtable discussion.

At the meeting, Director Lang Xianguo extended a warm welcome to the delegation on behalf of CDUT. He then gave a detailed presentation on the university’s international exchange and cooperation initiatives, including policies on international student admissions, key academic programs, and CDUT’s comprehensive system for cultivating international talent. He sincerely invited outstanding Sri Lankan students to study at CDUT and experience the richness of Chinese culture firsthand.
Remarks by Director Lang Xianguo
Mr. Indrananda Abeysekera, President of the Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation Association and Honorary Executive Chairman of the Sri Lanka-China Trade and Economic Cooperation Committee, shared the development history of the association and highlighted successful cases of cooperation between Sri Lanka and China in education, trade, and other sectors. He praised China’s rapid progress in education and its forward-thinking approach, and expressed strong interest in deepening collaboration with CDUT to create more opportunities for Sri Lankan students to study in China and promote youth exchanges between the two countries.

The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as international student exchange and cultural integration. During the meeting, Mr. Abeysekera also presented a formal proposal for cooperation, which outlined the background of the association and laid out a framework for future partnership, providing a solid foundation for further collaboration. The session concluded with a warm exchange of gifts, symbolizing mutual goodwill and friendship.

Delegation members expressed that the visit not only deepened their understanding of CDUT’s international cooperation achievements but also gave them a strong impression of the university’s rich foundations in natural science research and science education outreach.
