Introduction
In a bid to foster a global academic environment, diversify teaching methods, and enhance students’ research skills, academic proficiency, and innovative capacity, CDUT has joined hands with the China International Education Institute to roll out the “Innovative Talents Science Training Program.” The initiative integrates premium teaching resources from abroad, inviting esteemed scholars from globally renowned institutions—including Imperial College London, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Oxford—to deliver live, English-taught lectures. This enables CDUT students to engage in advanced international courses without the need to travel overseas. For this autumn semester, a total of 381 CDUT students have enrolled in the program.
To ensure the program’s academic rigor, uphold its distinctive character, and improve the curriculum for cultivating globally-oriented talent, CDUT has conducted meticulous planning and thorough reviews for the international courses introduced this semester. A total of 35 courses, spanning humanities, sciences, engineering, and business, have been made available, featuring expertise from 18 prestigious universities worldwide, such as Imperial College London, Cambridge, and Oxford. These offerings align closely with CDUT’s academic strengths, marking a significant step in establishing a robust, high-quality, and globally benchmarked curriculum system.
From October 12 to October 31, following course registration, adjustments, and a three-week trial period of live-streamed classes, the autumn semester project successfully conducted 97 sessions across various academic disciplines. Student attendance and assignment submission rates have been commendable, and the overall teaching operations have proceeded smoothly, with the initial impact of the international courses becoming evident. Professors, energized and enthusiastic during live classes, expressed their delight in leading top-tier Chinese college students through the exploration of cutting-edge interdisciplinary fields. Meanwhile, students actively engaged in live lectures and interactive discussions, ensuring that the virtual classroom remained dynamic and inspiring despite the physical separation.
International students at CDUT have also been active participants in this autumn semester program. The College of International Education established dedicated service groups to provide comprehensive support for international students, enhancing their learning experience. A total of 54 international students have enrolled in the courses, which have significantly enriched the curriculum available for CDUT’s international community.
In recent years, CDUT has actively explored “new mechanisms,” “new pathways,” and “new models” for nurturing internationally competitive and innovative talent. These international courses significantly broaden students’ global perspectives, allowing them to experience cutting-edge overseas teaching practices without leaving campus. This initiative expands the scope of interdisciplinary exploration for students and amplifies the transformative impact of open, globally connected education. Looking ahead, CDUT will maintain a strong focus on the program’s execution, systematically distill key insights, conduct rigorous course evaluations, and ensure the highest standards in course quality and students’ achievements. CDUT is steadfast in advancing the construction of a comprehensive international curriculum system and is dedicated to establishing a distinctive “CDUT model” for cultivating globally excellent and innovative talent.
