In the 2024 Sichuan Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing, and Presentation Competition, two outstanding recitation pieces presented by six international students from CDUT—Reading About China and The Long March: Three Poems by Mao Zedong—stood out through multiple rounds of rigorous evaluation by experts, earning first prize in the international student category. This marks the third time CDUT’s international students have achieved provincial honors in this prestigious competition.

Provincial Award Winners in the 2024 Sichuan Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing, and Presentation Competition

Jointly organized by the CPC Sichuan Provincial Department of Publicity, the CPC Sichuan Provincial Language Commission, the Education Commission of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, and the Department of Education of Sichuan Province, this event served as the Sichuan regional competition for the 6th "Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing, and Presentation Competition," overseen by the Ministry of Education and the State Language Commission. With the theme "Honoring China, Continuing Cultural Legacy," the competition celebrated the richness of Chinese language and culture through recitation, interpretation, writing, and seal carving, aiming to inspire wisdom, reinforce ideals, and reflect the spirit of the era through Chinese classical texts. The School of International Education at CDUT actively responded by encouraging international students to participate. Following a rigorous selection process, six international students were selected to form two teams, both of which secured first prize in the international student category.

Through their in-depth study and interpretation of Chinese classics, international students have gained a profound appreciation for the beauty of the Chinese language and the richness of Chinese culture. This experience not only enhanced their linguistic and cultural proficiency but also deepened their affection for China, embodying the spirit of learning and thriving in China. As part of its commitment to fostering international students, the School of International Education will continue to actively advance the development of global communication skills, ensuring that China’s stories are told effectively, China’s voice is heard clearly, and China is presented to the world in a true, multidimensional, and comprehensive manner. These efforts aim to strengthen China’s soft (cultural) power and expand the global influence of Chinese culture.
