CDUT Graduate Teams Excel in the 12th Energy Equipment Innovative Design Competition for China Postgraduate, Advancing to the Finals

The final shortlist for the 12th Energy Equipment Innovative Design Competition for China Postgraduate (the Competition), part of the Innovation Practice Series for China Postgraduate and sponsored by the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment Industry Association (CPEIA)•Beijing Petroleum Machinery Co., Ltd.•Gemstone Pipe Industry Cup”, was recently announced. Teams from CDUT stood out for their innovation and solid expertise, with five teams making it to the final stage and one team earning third place.

This years Competition saw 2,435 teams from 309 graduate institutions competing, making it an exceptionally intense contest. Following rigorous evaluations, 745 teams advanced to the final stage, with 670 teams progressing to the live finals and 75 teams receiving third-place awards without needing to participate in the finals. The final competition will be held in mid-to-late September 2025 at Kunming University of Science and Technology (Chenggong Campus).

The Innovation Practice Series for China Postgraduate is guided by the Department of Degree Management & Postgraduate Education at the Ministry of Education, co-hosted by the China Graduate Education Association and the Youth Science and Technology Center at the China Association for Science and Technology. It is the only government-recognized, nationwide competition specifically targeting graduate students in China, with 20 theme-based competitions in 2025.

CDUT places great emphasis on participation in the Innovation Practice Series for China Postgraduate. Starting in 2024, a University Support + Department-led + College-hosted model was implemented to encourage more graduate teams to participate in various competitions, continuously sparking innovation potential. In this years Competition, under the leadership of the Party Communist at the Graduate Student Affairs Office and the organization of the College of Energy (College of Modern Shale Gas Industry), our teams focused on key issues in the oil and gas development, carbon reduction, and intelligent monitoring industries, presenting targeted technological solutions. Their work received high praise from the judging experts.

The teams that reached the final will compete against top teams from across China, showcasing their work through live demonstrations,presentations, and other rounds, providing a platform to further highlight the achievements of CDUT’s graduate students.
