On the afternoon of May 9, 2025, the College of International Education (Oxford Brookes College) at Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) successfully held its inaugural Joint Sino-British Academic Committee and Subcommittee meetings in Room 8104 of the No.8 Teaching Building. The meetings aimed to advance the high-quality development of the Colleges discipline construction, teaching reform, and student training. The meetings were chaired by Professor Li Shan, Chair of the Academic Subcommittee. Attendees included Vice Chair Professor Lang Xianguo, members of the Academic Subcommittee from the three partner colleges, and representatives from the British team of Oxford Brookes College, with over ten participants in total.

Professor Li Shan opened the meetings with a warm welcome to all attendees, followed by a brief overview of the meetings background and significance. Matt Ryan, the British director, delivered a speech online to express his pleasure at having such an opportunity and platform for both Chinese and British parties to discuss and exchange academic ideas. He also looked forward to both sides joining hands in the future to strengthen international cooperative education at CDUT and achieve shared success.

During the first phase of the meetings, participants from both sides engaged in active interaction and in-depth discussions. They thoroughly explored the responsibilities of the Joint Academic Committee and held comprehensive discussions on establishing a mentorship system for students enrolled in the Sino-foreign cooperative programs. A consensus was reached, laying a solid foundation for future progress.

In the second phase, members of the Academic Subcommittee focused on reviewing two key documents: the Working Guidelines of the Academic Subcommittee of the College of International Education (Oxford Brookes College) and the Implementation Measures for the Selection of Outstanding 2025 Graduates for Exemption from the Masters Entrance Examination. Committee members provided constructive feedback and proposed revisions, and the finalized documents were unanimously approved.

The successful convening of these meetings clarified the working procedures of both the Joint Sino-British Academic Committee and the Academic Subcommittee of the College of International Education (Oxford Brookes College). This milestone provides clear direction for future initiatives in discipline development, teaching reform, faculty and student development, and international collaboration. Guided by the Academic Subcommittee and strengthened by close Sino-British cooperation, the College is poised to make significant strides in student training. Continued close communication and collaboration between the two teaching teams is expected to further elevate the Colleges academic and institutional advancement.
