On September 6, Zeng Ying, a prominent member of CDUT’s Party Standing Committee and the Vice President of CDUT, spearheaded a delegation’s participation in the Sichuan-Hong Kong-Macao Higher Education Forum on Integrated Development of Education, Technology, and Talent (the Forum). Organized by Sichuan University and co-hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), the Forum has marked a pivotal gathering. During the forum, the delegation also collectively attended the launch ceremony for the “Education, Technology, and Talent” integrated development platform for Sichuan-Hong Kong-Macao universities. Also present at the Forum were Zeng Guoqiang, Director of the Academic Affairs Office in CDUT, Zhang Tingbin, Associate Dean of the Graduate School in CDUT, and Li Shan, Deputy Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation in CDUT. Additionally, leaders from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Southwest Jiaotong University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Sichuan Agricultural University, Southwest Petroleum University, Sichuan Normal University, The University of Hong Kong (HKU), The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST), PolyU, City University of Hong Kong (CityU), Hong Kong Baptist University, The Education University of Hong Kong, University of Macau (UM), and Macau University of Science and Technology also participated in the Forum. The Forum was presided over by Yao Leye, Vice President of Sichuan University. Luo Shanshan, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Office at the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, read the speech by Yu Xiaoqi, the Director of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education.

During the Forum, distinguished representatives from universities in Sichuan, Hong Kong, and Macao delved into the central themes through keynote speeches and open discussions. The focal points revolved around “enhancing international influence through collaboration and advancing world-class universities and disciplines,” “cultivating students’ global competence through joint efforts and establishing global talent hubs,” and “cooperating to integrate into the global science and technology innovation network to accelerate Chinese modernization.” Furthermore, participants leveraged the strategic blueprints of the “Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area” and the “Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle”, unraveling the profound significance, substantial missions, and inherent interconnections of education, technology, and talent development.
Zeng Ying, on behalf of CDUT, delivered a keynote speech on the theme of “Enhancing High-Level Substantive Communication and Collaboration to Construct First-Class Research Platforms and to Promote the Cultivation of Outstanding Innovative Talents.” She provided a comprehensive overview and international scientific cooperation and exchanges of CDUT, as well as talent recruitment and development. Moreover, she expressed the desire to expand the dialogue platform for inter-regional educational collaboration through the cooperation among universities in Sichuan, Hong Kong, and Macao. This aims to facilitate the sharing of high-quality educational resources across regions and cultivate top-notch innovative talents with global competence, aligning with our global objectives and vision.

Vice President, Zeng Ying, Delivering a Keynote Speech
Following the Forum, the delegation of CDUT engaged in extensive discussions with leaders from various Hong Kong and Macao universities, as well as relevant department heads. CDUT will continue to advance collaborative initiatives with HKU and PolyU, focusing on Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology's international scientific cooperation projects and the scientific innovation projects of Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan. We aim to strengthen research collaboration with HKUST, particularly in the realms of geological disaster prevention and emergency management. Additionally, we plan to establish an exchange and collaboration relationship with CityU through industry-academia- research-application cooperation, jointly nurturing outstanding innovative talents. We will also progress exchange programs for students between CDUT’s Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions and HKU, collaboratively facilitating academic and cultural exchange activities. Simultaneously, an agreement has been reached between CDUT and UM. We are bound to implement the commitments of cooperation at the university level, promoting research collaboration, faculty and student exchanges, as well as academic interactions at the school level.
Through the Forum, CDUT actively participated in promoting the establishment of the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance.” This initiative holds significance in further enhancing CDUT’s international influence, advancing first-class discipline development, and nurturing top-tier innovative talents with an international perspective and global competence.
