A Collaboration with a Fortune Global 500 Company! ABB Advanced Electromechanical Transmission and Motion Control Joint Laboratory of Chengdu University of Technology Unveiled

On July 11th, the Unveiling Ceremony of the "Advanced Electromechanical Transmission and Motion Control Joint Laboratory" Co-built by School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) and Shanghai Celex Science & Tech. Co., Ltd. was held in the second conference room of CDUT's office building.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Qi Luping, head of ABB's Motion division in China, Hu Shizhong, chairman of Shanghai Celex Science & Tech. Co., Ltd., Hu Bing, vice secretary of the Party Committee of CDUT, Zhang Shipeng, Party secretary of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, CDUT, etc., and was presided over by Zhong Xiaoling, assistant dean (responsible for presiding over work) of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, CDUT.

Hu Bing welcomed the group led by Qi Luping and Hu Shizhong. He briefly summarized CDUT's development as a university included in the "double world-class project", including its positioning for school running, advantages and characteristics around the keywords of "high-end equipment R&D and intelligent manufacturing, energy resource exploration and development, and geo-hazard prevention" and presented the achievements of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, CDUT in areas such as the "new engineering" construction, national first-class major construction and provincial research center development as well as CDUT's conduct of production-education integration, scientific research and social services. He expressed the desire to further strengthen strategic cooperation and deepen interactions with ABB and Shanghai Celex Science & Tech. Co., Ltd.

Qi Luping presented the company's development in detail. He stated that the company would continue to invest in practice base construction and practical teaching to better serve the engineering practice of university teachers and students and contribute to the cultivation of industry talents. He expressed the hope that both sides could complement each other in terms of teaching resources, enterprise technologies and operational resources, effectively achieve the company's benign development and CDUT's research result transformation and organize a research team to make breakthroughs in technologies in the field of "electromechanical transmission", expedite project implementation and output results.

Then, participating representatives from both sides exchanged views on broader collaboration on teaching, research, achievement transformation, technical training and student employment and made arrangements for future project cooperation. The attendees also visited the laboratory together.

It is learned that the laboratory has received precision and advanced equipment worth more than RMB 4 million as an investment from the Fortune Global 500 company (ABB). The laboratory aims to advance collaborative innovation by integrating the research strengths of CDUT and the enterprise (Shanghai Celex Science & Tech. Co., Ltd.) across regions. The laboratory will conduct in-depth industry-university-research cooperation in areas such as transmission and motion products and industrial robots, connect more talents with sci-tech resources, blaze a new path for university-enterprise collaboration in the fields of original technology R&D and customized talent cultivation, solve more practical problems for enterprise development and provide greater innovation power for discipline construction.
