Guo Huadong and Li Zhizhong Awarded at the 30th Anniversary of the Founding of CARSA

On May 28, 2023, the 30th anniversary of China Association of Remote Sensing Application (CARSA), distinguished individuals were honored with Achievement Medal, Contribution Medal, and Commemorative Medal. Among the esteemed recipients, Professor Guo Huadong, a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Director of the Digital Hu Line Institute of Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT), has long been engaged in the research of remote sensing and its application. He has systematically revealed the mechanisms of radar electromagnetic wave interaction with typical ground objects and has created China’s first digital Earth prototype system. For his significant contributions to remote sensing information science and digital Earth research, he earned the Achievement Medal. Professor Li Zhizhong, Vice Director of the Digital Hu Line Research Institute, is an expert in geological remote sensing. He has previously served as the Director of the Shenyang and Xian Geological Survey Centers of the China Geological Survey. He has also been an executive member of the 5th and 6th Councils of CARSA and has established the association’s Black Soil Remote Sensing Branch and Yellow River Basin High-Quality Development Remote Sensing Branch. In acknowledgement of his remarkable achievements, he has been granted Contribution Medal.

It’s reported that China Association of Remote Sensing Application was founded in 1992. Over the course of its thirty-year history, it has for the first time recognized remote sensing experts from various industries nationwide. Among them, there are 20 recipients of the Achievement Medal and 35 recipients of the Contribution Medal. These renowned experts have dedicated themselves to long-term research and development of remote sensing technology in China, leading to extraordinary advancements in the field and related industries.
