CCDC Ecuador Branch and CDUT's State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation Exchange Ideas Online
In order to actively implement the "CDUT Earth Science Action Plan for the Belt and Road Initiative" of Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) and actively serve the "going global" strategy of related enterprises, CDUT's State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation exchanged ideas with CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company Limited (CCDC) Ecuador Branch on the evening of March 16th. At this exchange meeting initiated by the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation, CDUT, the two sides separately presented the operation and research of the CCDC Ecuador Branch and Central University of Ecuador Joint Laboratory (CCDC-UCE Joint Laboratory) and the State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation and discussed their preliminary cooperation intention. The exchange meeting was attended by Ning Xiaojun, deputy manager, and Li Jun, director, Tang Lunshuai, deputy director, Liu Yong, Level III engineer, and Cui Guitao, mud project manager, of Technical Service Department, from the CCDC Ecuador Branch side as well as Li Zhiwu and Zhu Haiyan, deputy directors of State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation, Liu Wei, deputy director, and Yang Bin, associate professor, of Department of Petroleum Engineering, Li Shan, deputy director, and Dong Yi, chief of General Affairs Section of Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation, from the CDUT side, and was chaired by Li Shan.

Ning Xiaojun expressed his gratitude to CDUT's laboratory for its technical support to CCDC and said that CCDC would seek more opportunities for cooperation in the future to further consolidate the cooperative relationship between the two sides. Li Jun presented the building situation of the joint laboratory and the mud system used for services in Ecuador.
Li Zhiwu presented the basic situation of the State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation, expressed his gratitude to CCDC for its support to the laboratory in the strategic cooperation and proposed that the two sides could jointly cultivate international industry-academia-research-application talents in reliance on scientific and technological innovation projects; Zhu Haiyan proposed that the two sides could actively explore a win-win model of university-enterprise cooperation and integrate enterprise technological innovation needs with university discipline development and international talent cultivation; Liu Wei presented the specialty characteristics and advantages of the Department of Petroleum Engineering, and Yang Bin supplemented the mud research situation of the laboratory team. Li Shan suggested that CDUT assist CCDC Ecuador Branch in jointly conducting a talent cultivation program at UCE to recruit students from that university to study in China and invite them to attend summer camps at CDUT.
Two Sides Discussing the Cooperation Intention
The two sides discussed their preliminary cooperation intention at the exchange meeting and mentioned that they would invite relevant experts and scholars from UCE to exchange ideas on laboratory research cooperation and international talent cultivation.
It is learned that CCDC Ecuador Branch has been dedicated to its development in Ecuador for more than 20 years and has established a good corporate image and reputation there. CCDC Ecuador Branch entered into a joint laboratory cooperation agreement with UCE on May 2nd, 2019, and they have jointly built a drilling and completion fluid laboratory and conducted university-enterprise cooperation to provide an internship base for Petroleum major students of UCE. Since CDUT reached a strategic partnership with CCDC, CDUT has conducted multiple collaborations with UCE with the help of CCDC Ecuador Branch, including the successful opening of a Chinese language course and a program to recommend UCE students to study in China. The exchange meeting regarding the laboratory work of the two sides was held to deepen cooperation with CCDC Ecuador Branch and assist the Chinese enterprise that settles in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative in serving and giving back to the local society. Looking into the future, CDUT will deepen university-enterprise cooperation, strengthen minority language education, establish overseas internship bases and cultivate more high-quality talents with an international vision.
