Online Opening Ceremony of a Chinese Language Course between Chengdu University of Technology and Central University of Ecuador Held Successfully
The online opening ceremony of a Chinese language course between Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) and the Central University of Ecuador (UCE) was held successfully on March 6th. This ceremony chaired by Professor Guo Fengming, associate dean of College of Foreign Languages & Cultures, CDUT, was attended by Professor Ing. Gustavo Pinto Arteaga, dean, Dr. Jorge Ortiz, associate dean, of the Faculty of Geology, Mining, Petroleum and Environmental Engineering, Dr. Ramiro López, international relations director, and Lic. Santiago Sanguña, director of the Academic Institute of Languages, from the UCE side; Zhang Xiong, general manager, and Li Jun, director of Technical Service Project Department, from CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company Limited (CCDC) Ecuador Branch; Professor Fan Xuanmei, director of Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation, and Professor Liu Yongzhi, dean of College of Foreign Languages & Cultures, from the CDUT side; and a total of 60 students of the two Chinese language classes at UCE.

Gustavo Pinto Arteaga expressed his thanks to CDUT for its active efforts and contributions to the construction of the Chinese language course and expressed the intention to further deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
Liu Yongzhi presented the development and construction of the College of Foreign Languages & Cultures, CDUT and wished that the students of the Chinese language classes would get an in-depth glimpse of the cultural charm of the Chinese language, succeed in their learning, apply their knowledge and carry forward the friendship between China and Ecuador.
Zhang Xiong introduced the cooperative development relationship between CCDC and Ecuador and encouraged the students to overcome difficulties, march ahead with courage and seize the opportunity to further their study in China in the future.
Fan Xuanmei thanked UCE, CCDC and the College of Foreign Languages & Cultures, CDUT for their strong support and hard work. She said that the opening of the Chinese language course is a pioneering exploration of CDUT's attempt at school running overseas and that it will lay a solid foundation for China and Ecuador to deepen academic and research cooperation, teacher/student exchanges and international curriculum construction.

The opening of the Chinese language course received strong support from CDUT's strategic partner, CCDC. With CCDC's assistance, CDUT explored further cooperation with UCE and took the first step in school running overseas.
