Experts from the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation CDUT, etc. Visit the International Sister Cities Exhibition (Sino-Japanese Convention Center) of the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China for Cooperation and Exchange
Since the settlement of the first Overseas Consular Protection Publicity and Education Base of the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (Office of Foreign Affairs Committee) in Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT), the two sides have been actively expanding their areas of cooperation. On the afternoon of February 7th, a representative from the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation CDUT, together with experts from the CDUT College of Foreign Languages and Cultures and the International Sister Cities Research Center, went to the International Sister Cities Exhibition (Sino-Japanese Convention Center) of the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee to conduct research and have a symposium with Zhang Xiaoqin, the executive deputy director, and other staff members. The participants of the research activity included Li Shan, deputy director of the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation CDUT, Tian Xiaokun, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the CDUT College of Foreign Languages & Cultures, Hu Junping, head of the Japanese Department of the CDUT College of Foreign Languages & Cultures, and Dr. Zhuang Yan, deputy head of the English Department of the CDUT College of Foreign Languages & Cultures and deputy director of the International Sister Cities Research Center.
Deputy director Zhang Xiaoqin first extended a warm welcome to the experts from the International Exchanges & Cooperation CDUT and the CDUT College of Foreign Languages & Cultures. At the symposium, Li Shan presented CDUT's history, current international cooperative education program situation and future planning; Tian Xiaokun presented the international talent cultivation situation and demand; Hu Junping presented the international joint cultivation, faculty, subject settings, enrollment and employment related to Japanese major students; Dr. Zhuang Yan made constructive suggestions for the joint launch of people-to-people exchange activities of international sister cities, the diplomacy of sister cities and related academic forums.
At the symposium, the participants had in-depth discussions regarding the operations and volunteer services of the International Sister Cities Exhibition, the joint holding of international people-to-people exchange activities, the establishment of a cooperation platform between international sister cities’ universities, the launch of international talent cultivation courses and lectures, the organization of university students' internship overseas and the establishment of international internship bases.
As one of the important windows for Sichuan's exchanges with other countries, the International Sister Cities Exhibition (Sino-Japanese Convention Center) of the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee will soon be responsible for the operations of the first provincial-level international sister cities exhibition center in China - the Sichuan International Friendship Cities. CDUT will establish an in-depth and effective communication mechanism with the International Sister Cities Exhibition (Sino-Japanese Convention Center) of the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee and conduct relevant research and collaborative services as required by the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee.
Li Shan and other experts were also led by deputy director Zhang Xiaoqin to visit facilities in the International Sister Cities Exhibition, including the Chengdu Sino-Japanese Exchange Window and the Permanent Exhibition of Hiroshima Products.
The research and symposium promoted the exchange and cooperation between the two sides at the university level and laid the foundation for CDUT to hold Chinese and foreign people-to-people exchange activities at national and provincial levels, establish multi-faceted cooperation with related universities in international sister cities and set up international talent cultivation and internship bases.
