CDUT Leaders Attended the Founding Ceremony of the Technology Innovation Consortium of Natural Uranium Industry

In order to promote the development and technological innovation of China 's natural uranium industry, the Technology Innovation Consortium of Natural Uranium Industry was founded on August 25 by 50 organizations under the initiative of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) and through relying on China National Uranium Corporation Limited. CDUT is one of the first member units and vice chairman unit of the Consortium. A delegation led by Hou Mingcai, Vice President of CDUT, was invited to the founding ceremony of the Consortium. The delegation included Xu Shihai, President of the Institute of Science, Technology & Development, Ge Liangquan, professor of College of Nuclear Technology and Automation Engineering, and Xu Zhengqi, Vice Dean of College of Earth Sciences. Cao Shudong, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager of CNNC, serves as chairman of the Consortium; Ye Qizhen, an academician of the Chinese  Academy of Engineering, serves as director of the Consortium's Academic Committee; Hou Mingcai serves as vice chairman of the Consortium; and Prof. Ge Liangquan is a member of the Consortium's Academic Committee.

It is learned that the founding of the Technology Innovation Consortium of Natural Uranium Industry is a major initiative of CNNC to implement the relevant deployments of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and other ministries and commissions on the formation of innovation consortium and follow the relevant instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on building a new type of state system. Thus, its founding is of great strategic significance. The Consortium will become an important organization carrier to connect innovation entities, gather innovative resources, carry out cross-border cooperation, build a collaboration network, and create an innovation ecosystem, so as to comprehensively promote the high-quality development of the natural uranium industry.

The Consortium is functionally oriented to be the main force in tackling and innovating key core technologies in the area of natural uranium industry technology. Hence, it will strive to build a national-level R&D platform in the area of natural uranium industry technology and an international platform for the exchange of natural uranium exploration, mining, and metallurgy technologies and talents, speed up the breakthrough of key technological bottlenecks in natural uranium exploration, mining, and metallurgy, and effectively improve China's uranium resource security capability and sustainable development. The Consortium will also make scientific and technological innovations in terms of uranium exploration, uranium mining, beneficiation and smelting process, decommissioning, restoration, and smart mines.

CDUT, as one of the earliest universities engaged in uranium geology and exploration talent training and scientific research in China . has made important contributions to the cause of uranium geology in China . On the occasion of the founding of the Consortium, CDUT will optimize its resources, strengthen its team building, take the initiative to participate in the development of the Consortium as soon as possible, and make due contributions to the development of China's natural uranium industry.
