On the morning of May 11, 2021, the "Youth Volunteering - Guarding Lives" Geohazard Prevention publicity activity and the Sichuan and Chongqing Provincial (City) Youth League celebrated May 4th at the State Key Laboratory of Geohazard Prevention and Geoenvironment Protection of our university.
The event was organized by the Working Committee of the Sichuan Provincial Organ of the Communist Youth League, the Committee of Communist Youth League of the Chengdu University of Technology, the State Key Laboratory of Geohazard Prevention and Geoenvironment Protection, the Sichuan Institute of Ecological Restoration and Geological Disaster Prevention. It is jointly held by the Committee of the Communist Youth League of the Sichuan Natural Resources Department, the Sichuan Geological and Mineral Exploration and Development Bureau, the Sichuan Coalfield Geological Bureau. The purpose of the event is to study and implement the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the mobilization meeting of Party history study and education and the important discussion on disaster prevention, mitigation and relief. He mentioned to practice the philosophy of "people first, life first", motivate the youths in Sichuan and Chongqing to sharpen their original mission in the study and education of Party history, and contribute more youth power to safeguard people's life and property safety.

The event also invited more than 200 people, including representatives of Chongqing municipal department (league committee) secretaries, Sichuan provincial department (affiliation) league committee secretaries, representatives of the "Two Reds and One Excellent", and representatives of volunteers from Sichuan Institute of Mineral and Mechanical Technology and Chengdu Mechanical and Electrical School of Nuclear Industry, as well as representatives of outstanding volunteer organizations, outstanding volunteers and full-time monitors.

I Emergency Drills for Precaution.
The activity started with an emergency drill of sudden geohazard. The volunteer representatives of our school cooperated with Sichuan Metallurgical Geological Survey Bureau to present the whole process of emergency disposal such as geohazard weather risk warning, inspection and investigation, danger reporting, plan activation, emergency response, risk avoidance and evacuation, evacuation help and personnel resettlement through a tabletop exercise for the guests present.

After the drill, Professor Chen Zhenlin, an expert from the State Key Laboratory of Geohazard Prevention and Geoenvironment Protection and Vice Dean of the School of Environment and Civil Engineering of Chengdu University of Technology, commented on the drill and gave it a high evaluation. He said that the drill was well prepared, close to the real situation, and the departments at all levels responded quickly and effectively. He also hoped that the volunteers and participants would learn more about the characteristics of geohazards through this drill and further improve their ability to prevent and avoid disasters.

II Youth Initiative Should Be Obeyed Together.
In order to guide more young cadres and workers of provincial organs and young students of colleges and universities in Sichuan to actively participate in geological disaster prevention and control actions, Liu Yang, a youth representative of the Department of Natural Resources, read out the "Youth Volunteering - Guarding Life" geological disaster prevention and control volunteer service initiative and issued an initiative to the youth of colleges and universities in the province: we should actively publicize disaster prevention knowledge, participate in risk avoidance exercises, cooperate to work for risk avoidance and transfer, participate in rescue in order and carry forward the volunteer service spirit of "dedication, love, mutual assistance and progress". Millions of people united as one man, our wills unite like a fortress. We should make our own contribution to win the battle of geohazard prevention. We should make our own efforts on building a beautiful, prosperous and harmonious Sichuan province.

III Sharing and exchange, integrating learning and innovation
During the meeting, Li Weile, a professor of CDUT, introduced to the participants the current situation of geological hazards in Sichuan, the major geological hazards in the past years as well as the history of geohazards prevention and control and the outlook of disaster prevention technology.

Comrade Gong Yinchang, Secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Organ Youth League Working Committee, shared his ideas of this event. He pointed out that "Sichuan and Chongqing have always been a family. IV Promotion of science and technology to the ear and heart
In the square in front of SKLGP, the participants listened to the introduction of the achievements of "one department, four bureaus and one university" on the prevention and control of geohazards, watched the display of relevant equipment, and visited SKLGP and the geohazard monitoring and early warning system of CDUT.

At the same time, CDUT also carried out volunteer services for disaster prevention and mitigation in densely populated areas such as the Orange Garden, canteens and dormitories. The campaign also aims to extend the scope of volunteer services to a wider and more extensive area.

As the only State Key Laboratory in the field of geohazard prevention and control in China, SKLGP has done a lot of work on early identification and monitoring and early warning of geohazards, compiled a technical guide for early identification of geohazards, developed professional software for the fusion and analysis of multi-source remote sensing data of geohazards, proposed and built a "three-investigation" system for the identification of geohazards that integrates air-sky-ground, and developed a "real-time monitoring and early warning system of geohazards" with independent intellectual property rights, which has successfully warned of landslides dozens of times, providing a complete set of solutions to the scientific questions of "where" and "when".
In the future, relying on the advantages of our disciplines, CDUT will continue to transform scientific research results into effective measures for disaster prevention and relief in a timely manner, increase the training of professional talents to provide talent support for the promotion and application of new geohazards prevention and mitigation technologies, and strengthen the construction of volunteer teams for geohazards prevention and control to contribute to win the hard-fought battle of geohazards prevention and control with our youth and strength.
