The “Study in Chengdu: The 2023 Tour” was co-hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of Chengdu Municipal People’s Government and Chengdu Municipal Education Bureau on June 9. It aims to encourage and attract overseas students to study and communicate in Chengdu, strengthen Chengdu’s appeal to the international students, and woo a group of international ambassadors who have knowledge of, and support and love for Chengdu. International students of Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) were invited to attend the event and visit the venues of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games (the Games) at Dong’an Lake Sports Park.

Led by the staff, the international students visited the Main Media Center of the Games. They explored various sections, such as the media workspace, press conference hall, work area of youth journalists, and international broadcasting center, which allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the preparations and cutting-edge facilities in the News Center of the Games. They were immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the upcoming event in Chengdu. Afterward, the students engaged in cultural activities at the Chengdu Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, such as made lanterns and painted fans, experienced traditional Chinese games and attended a session where they shared their experiences with other international students studying in Chengdu.

The sharing session began with speeches from the Director of the Chengdu Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and the Deputy Director of the Education Bureau. Representatives from the External Relationship Department of the Games’ Organizing Committee then provided an introduction to the relevant aspects of the Games. Following that, international students in Chengdu and outstanding graduates took turns expressing their thoughts on the “Studying in Chengdu” drive. The students mentioned that Chengdu was a city they never wanted to leave and studying in Chengdu has enabled them to fulfill their potential.

During the sharing session, a series of city opportunity lists were released to help international students studying in Chengdu better fathom the pace of life in this city and make their daily life smoother. They’ve been called upon to participate in the “International Students as Docents of the Du Fu Thatched Cottage”, which aimed to deepen their comprehension of Chengdu’s cultural landmarks and traditional culture, to promote mutual learning and to provide them with a more profound insight into Chengdu.
