On May 25th, the College of International Education and the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation at CDUT orchestrated the “Study@CDUT: Exploration in Qionglai Sub-venue of International Horticultural Exhibition 2024” field trip. Twenty-seven international students from the countries along the “Belt and Road” Initiative embarked on an educational visit to the Qionglai Sub-venue of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 in Chengdu.
At the cultural and educational research hub, the Longmen Mountains Biodiversity Expo Park, the comprehensive geological strata of the Longmen Mountains fault, an array of rocks, minerals, and paleontological fossils, a spectrum of vegetation, and a rich display of fish species not only exemplify the allure of biodiversity but also epitomize the harmonious relationship between humanity and nature. This provided the international students with a unique opportunity to closely observe and comprehend the natural resources of the Longmen Mountains.
The students unanimously declared the field trip to be profoundly memorable, enriching their knowledge and offering a firsthand experience of the seamless integration of Chinese technology with the natural world. They were anticipating more such opportunities to delve deeper into Chinese culture and its natural splendors.
Syrian doctoral student Hani Meree (Han Ni) remarked: “My visit to the Qionglai Sub-venue of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 has etched an unforgettable impression. Here, I encountered a vast diversity of flora and fauna, including an array of fish species and pristine paleontological fossils, which underscored the profound commitment to ecological preservation. This journey has deepened my understanding of the significance of safeguarding nature and the environment, inspiring me to become a dedicated steward of our planet’s biodiversity.”
Bangladeshi undergraduate student Rahman Md Atiqur (Li Ren) expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m truly thankful to the local authorities and our educators for organizing such an exhilarating event, allowing us to explore the Longmen Mountains Biodiversity Expo Park. The highlight for me was the VR rafting experience through the majestic and perilous Longmen Mountains. It was as if I was truly immersed in the landscape. I’m astounded by how China has masterfully merged technology with ecological conservation, and I feel privileged to have experienced it.”
Burmese doctoral student Khin Ee Thu (Ding Yilan) said: “The scenery of the Longmen Mountains is exceptionally charming, and the locals are exceedingly warm and welcoming. This event was more than an academic pursuit; it was a spiritual cleansing. Amid our rigorous weekly studies, such activities offer a refreshing respite. The visit to the Longmen Mountains Biodiversity Expo Park has deepened my comprehension and sense of duty towards ecological conservation. I’m more committed than ever to cherishing and protecting this land and to contributing to global ecological preservation with a sense of enduring responsibility.”
The Qionglai Sub-venue, one of the four sub-venues of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 in Chengdu, is nestled in the scenic Longmen Mountains range and along the banks of the Baimo River in Qionglai, spanning approximately 1,172 acres. Centered around the themes of “Garden City: Beautiful Habitat” and “Biodiversity,” the park is designed to be a multifunctional exposition garden integrating leisure, educational research, and sightseeing into a cohesive experience.
