Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation and College of Foreign Languages & Cultures Hold a Chinese Language Course Teaching Preparation Meeting with Central University of Ecuador
On the evening of January 12th, 2023, Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation, College of Foreign Languages & Cultures of Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) and the Central University of Ecuador (UCE) held a Chinese language course teaching preparation meeting. The participants included Santiago, head of the Department of Linguistics, UCE, Gustav, dean of Faculty of Environmental and Petroleum Engineering, UCE, Genesis Yanez, Program liaison, UCE, Li Shan, deputy director of the Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation, CDUT, Professor Guo Fengming, associate dean of College of Foreign Languages & Cultures, CDUT, Associate Professor Miao, Head of the Chinese Language Course, Zhang Yu and Fu Yuwei, teachers of the Chinese Language Course and related staff from CDUT.
Li Shan expressed her support and thanks for the UCE's cooperation with Chengdu University of Technology in international Chinese language education, presented the basic situation of the international Chinese language course and answered the questions in the email from UCE. Guo Fengming expressed her full support for the opening of the Chinese language course for UCE and invited their staff to come to CDUT for exchange visits and further deepening of cooperation.

At the meeting, Miao Miao organized the two sides to discuss such details as the course start date, course schedule and language of instruction, and the two sides reached a preliminary consensus. The first phase of Chinese language teaching is scheduled to take place in March this year. Two Chinese language teaching classes with 50 students each will be set up for UCE, and Basic Chinese will be taught by two teachers, Zhang Yu and Fu Yuwei, each of whom will lead a class and integrate Chinese culture into Chinese language teaching. The first phase of teaching will be tentative teaching, and the next teaching plan will be discussed based on the teaching effects after the completion of the course.
The opening of the Chinese language course for UCE this time has built a platform for international Chinese language and cultural exchanges for CUDT, and in the future, CDUT will use this platform to contribute to international Chinese language education and Chinese culture dissemination and promote cultural exchanges with countries in the Belt and Road Initiative.

It is learned that CDUT already established the basis for cooperation with the UCE in 2021 by reaching a framework cooperation agreement and signing a memorandum of cooperation. CDUT held a special enrollment teach-in for the UCE's international students in China in October 2022, which deepened the exchange and cooperation with the UCE. In November of the same year, CDUT was invited to participate in the International Forum on Energy Prospects in Ecuador hosted by the UCE, which further consolidated bilateral cooperation and promoted the two sides' conduct of scientific research cooperation projects.
