On March 7, 2026, the 88th session of the “Mount Everest Scientific Research Plan - Mount Everest Forum” and the CDUT 70th Anniversary Academic Report Series, organized by the Institute of Science and Technology Development of Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT), was held in the No. 9 Teaching Building. This event featured a special keynote report by Li Ning, a renowned Chinese geophysical well logging expert.

Professor Liu Qingyou, Secretary of the CDUT Party Committee, expressed gratitude on behalf of the university to Academician Li Ning and his team for their years of support for CDUT’s development.

The meeting was hosted by Professor Wen Huaguo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of CDUT. On behalf of the university, Wen introduced Li Ning’s academic achievements and provided an overview of the “Mount Everest Forum” high-end academic activity series.

Caring deeply about the university’s development, Li Ning, representing the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development (RIPED), donated the new-generation well logging software CIFLog 4.5—which features independent intellectual property rights—to CDUT. Concurrently, Hygon Information Technology Co., Ltd. donated five desktop computers equipped with domestic IT innovation operating systems and the CIFLog software to the university’s competition team.

Next, Li Ning elaborated on the core essence and strategic value of geophysical well logging technology, showcasing the leapfrog development of China’s well logging technology from trailing to keeping pace, and now leading in certain fields.

Concluding his report, Li Ning interpreted the strategic significance of the 10,000-meter ultra-deep geophysical well logging engineering project, likening it to a “reverse lunar exploration” mission.
