On October 25–26, the final round of the 5th National College Young Teachers’ Geological Course Teaching Competition was successfully held in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. The event was hosted by the Geological Society of China, guided by its Committee on Geological Education Research, and organized by Sun Yat-sen University (Zhuhai Campus). The competition attracted 160 young teachers from 68 universities across the country. Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) performed exceptionally well, winning the Excellent Organization Award, along with one Grand Prize and two First Prizes.

Professor Shi Zeming, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Earth and Planetary Sciences, was invited to serve as a member of the expert panel. The judging experts conducted a comprehensive evaluation of each contestant’s teaching performance based on multiple criteria, including teaching design, content delivery, classroom organization, and language expression. After two days of intense competition, Ms. Qi Liang received the Grand Prize, while Ms. Zhao Jing and Mr. Liu Xingye won First Prizes, fully demonstrating the solid teaching foundation and professional excellence of CDUT’s young faculty members.

The College of Earth and Planetary Sciences was responsible for organizing the on-campus preparation for this competition. During the preparation phase, the participating teachers devoted themselves wholeheartedly to refining their lessons. Leaders from the university, college, and departments attached great importance to the event, providing full guidance on topic selection and courseware development. Senior faculty members who had previously excelled in past competitions actively shared their experiences and offered targeted coaching, while course teams provided strong support in material collection and instructional design. This collaborative effort across all institutional levels laid a solid foundation for CDUT’s outstanding results.

The National College Young Teachers’ Geological Course Teaching Competition is the highest-level and largest-scale teaching contest in China’s geoscience field and is listed among the official rankings of the “National College Teachers’ Teaching Competitions.” As an authoritative platform for academic exchange among geology educators nationwide, the competition showcases excellence in teaching and innovation.
