Dresden University of Technology Delegation Visited CDUT

In an effort to advance the international education collaboration between CDUT and TU Dresden, Dr. Brian Bjoerndal Pedersen, dean of Technische Universität Dresden Institute of Advanced Study (TUDIAS), visited CDUT on November 25. During the visit, he met with Liu Qingyou, Party Secretary of CDUT, and participated in a seminar held in the first meeting room of the Administration Building. The German delegation included Zhang Wei, Dean of the Chinese Branch, and Ruan Yimin, Executive Dean. The seminar was attended by key representatives from CDUT, including faculty from the College of Materials and Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, College of Nuclear Technology and Automation Engineering, College of Computer Science and Cyber Security, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the College of International Education (Oxford Brookes College), and the Industry-Education Integration Department at the Yibin campus.

During their meeting, Liu Qingyou and Brian engaged in a cordial conversation, extending a warm welcome to the German delegation and expressing strong hopes for the furthering of cooperation. Liu emphasized the significant potential for collaboration in the training of talent in science and engineering fields, noting that the resulting research partnerships could offer wide-ranging application prospects and innovation opportunities, with the potential to yield breakthrough results. In response, Brian expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception and invited Liu to lead a delegation to TU Dresden next year. He stressed the importance of deepening the two universities’ friendship and advancing cooperation in areas such as talent development, academic exchange, and international industry-university-research collaboration. At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties exchanged gifts and posed for a commemorative photo.

Following the meeting, the delegation held a seminar with representatives from the cooperating faculties to discuss the progress of the joint projects. Both sides introduced their respective institutionsTU Dresden and CDUT. The College of International Education provided a detailed overview of the cooperation agreement, highlighting key areas such as the joint undergraduate dual degree program, the combined bachelor’s and master’s program, the joint master’s dual degree program, international summer schools, faculty and staff exchange visits, and research collaboration. Faculty representatives from both universities exchanged ideas on enhancing students’ international perspectives and global competencies, as well as expanding opportunities for overseas education and career paths. Further discussions were held on critical issues including course alignment, credit transfer, student enrollment management, and overseas internships. Both parties reached a preliminary agreement on establishing a collaborative framework and implementing the projects, setting a strong foundation for advancing and optimizing the partnership moving forward.

The successful visit and seminar represent a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between CDUT and TU Dresden, establishing a firm foundation for deeper cooperation in areas such as education and research. Under the framework of their existing partnership, both institutions are poised to expand their collaboration into additional fields. This cooperation is set to transcend geographical and cultural boundaries, providing an expansive platform for nurturing high-quality, internationally-minded talent with global perspectives, cross-cultural communication skills, and an innovative spirit.

TU Dresden, certified by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, was founded in 1828 and is located in Dresden, the capital city of Saxony in Germany. As a member of the TU9an elite group of Germany’s leading technical universities—it ranks among the top technical institutions in Europe and is one of Germanys eleven “elite universities.” TU Dresden comprises 18 faculties, offering 121 degree programs. Its programs in microelectronics, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, materials science, and civil engineering are ranked among the best in Germany.
