CCTV Documentary 500 Million Years: The Miracle of Life in Rocks Filmed at CDUT Museum

On May 16th, the crew of the CCTV documentary 500 Million Years: The Miracle of Life in Rocks visited Chengdu Museum of Natural History and CDUT Museum (the Museum) to research fossil specimens and studies. Their findings will be featured in Season 1 of the documentary.

Its said that Season 1 will spotlight significant fossil discoveries in China over the past century, employing modern fossil restoration techniques to bring these ancient creatures to life for viewers.

The Museum, as a premier geological natural history institution, boasts over 30 dinosaur fossils and valuable specimens of ancient creatures like saber-toothed elephants, mammoths, and woolly rhinos. The crew focused on the Museum’s highlight, the Mamenchisaurus hochuanensis. The five-minute segment will be broadcast on a related CCTV program at a later date.
