On the morning of May 7, 2024, the Oil & Gas Survey of China Geological Survey held a cooperation and exchange symposium with CDUT in the sixth conference room of Yanhu Conference Hall. The symposium was attended by Liu Qingyou, Secretary of the CPC Committee of CDUT, Hou Mingcai and Zhou Zhongli, Vice Presidents and Members of the Standing Committee of CPC CDUT, He Yuanxin, Deputy Director of the Oil & Gas Survey and Director of the Unconventional Oil & Gas Engineering Technology Center, Bao Shujing, Deputy Chief Geologist of the Oil & Gas Survey, and Hu Zhifang, Deputy Director of the Unconventional Oil & Gas Engineering Technology Center. Heads of relevant departments from both parties were also present. The symposium was presided over by Zhou Zhongli.

Liu Qingyou welcomed He Yuanxin and his delegation to CDUT for discussions on deepening exchange and cooperation. He expressed gratitude for the Oil & Gas Survey's longstanding care and support for the high-quality development of CDUT. Liu highlighted CDUT's rich history, well-qualified faculty, and distinct academic strengths, noting its continuous commitment to aligning its development with China’s economic and social progress, actively serving the country’s strategies and regional economic and social development. He emphasized that the business areas of both parties align well, allowing for multi-faceted and diversified in-depth partnerships. Liu hoped that both parties could further enhance cooperation in areas such as talent exchange and scientific research, jointly contribute more significantly to China’s energy security, and advance CDUT's development into a high-level university with more prominent advantages and characteristics.

He Yuanxin expressed his gratitude to his alma mater and teachers and sincerely congratulated CDUT on its high-quality development. He highlighted that the Oil & Gas Survey is responsible for the foundational and non-profit geological surveys and strategic exploration of oil and gas resources in China, providing essential support for the national oil and gas resource strategy, planning, and exploration and development efforts. CDUT, he noted, is a leading force in basic research in related fields and a nexus of major technological breakthroughs, attracting many top innovative talents. He hopes to deepen communication and cooperation with CDUT in conducting theoretical research, overcoming key technology challenges, and making scientific project applications for hydrocarbon accumulation, aiming to solve practical development problems, achieve scientific and technological breakthroughs, and jointly promote high-quality development.

At the meeting, Hou Mingcai introduced CDUT's history, educational development, faculty strength, talent cultivation system, scientific research, and social services. Bao Shujing provided an overview of the Oil & Gas Survey, covering its general profile, breakthroughs in mineral exploration, recent developments, and future plans. The attendees had in-depth discussions on talent cultivation and exchange, scientific research, and key technology challenges.
Hou Mingcai and Bao Shujing signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties, in the presence of Liu Qingyou and He Yuanxin.
