Good News! Academician Dorji's Team Receives Approval for Their Strategic Research and Consulting Project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
Recently, the Strategic Research and Consulting Project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering ("CAE") "Research on the Potential and Development and Utilization Strategy of China's Marine Geothermal Resources" (Project Approval No. 2022-HZ-18) presided over by Academician Dorji, led by our university and jointly applied for with CNOOC Research Institute Co., Ltd. and the Hainan Branch of CNOOC China Limited has been successfully approved. Academician Dorji, Academician Zhou Shouwei, Academician Xie Yuhong and President Professor Liu Qingyou are responsible for the four sub-projects "Strategic Research on the Potential of China's Marine Geothermal Resources", "Strategic Research on Key Technologies of Exploration and Development of China's Marine Geothermal Resources", "Strategic Research on the Comprehensive Utilization of China's Marine Geothermal Resources" and "Strategic Research on China's Marine Geothermal Development Equipment", respectively. This is the first time that our university has received approval for a Strategic Research and Consulting Project of the CAE.
The Strategic Research and Consulting Projects of the CAE are strategic, forward-looking and comprehensive high-end consulting projects established according to the requirements of the National Engineering Science and Technology Think Tank and "serving decision-making and being moderately proactive”, in order to provide accurate, forward-looking and timely suggestions for national macroscopic decision-making and offer sci-tech and intellectual support for improving the sci-tech innovation capabilities of China, enhancing breakthroughs in core technologies in key fields, accelerating the building of a country of innovation, supporting high-quality economic and social development and realizing the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.
The project of our university centers on the potential and development and utilization of China's marine geothermal resources, focuses on resource-rich points, technical difficulties, development and utilization merits and equipment bottlenecks and explores high-quality development and industrial development models and implementation paths and will provide a strategic decision-making basis for marine resource development and island and reef energy security. The implementation of the project will contribute to the full release of the potential and advantages of marine geothermal resources. It will not only effectively support the energy needs in developing the marine economy and ensure the security of islands and reefs but also contribute to the achievement of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and accelerate the construction of the new marine energy system, the marine industry and the marine ecological civilization.
