President Liu Qingyou and His Delegation Visited Three Oil Field Enterprises and Alumni in Xinjiang

Recently, Liu Qingyou, Vice Secretary of the Party and President of CDUT, and his delegation, including CDUT’s vice presidents Xu Qiang, Huang Qi, and Hou Mingcai, visited three major oil field enterprises in Xinjiang - PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Company, Sinopec Northwest China Petroleum Bureau, and Xinjiang Oilfield Company - , and met with the alumni in order to implement the instructions from the speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection in Xinjiang, continue to promote the strategic layout of "one body (Sichuan) and two wings (Tibet and Xinjiang)", focus on the national oil and gas energy security strategy, inherit CDUT's climbing spirit, boost the building of CDUT into "a world first-class university with first-class disciplines" and the development of talent training mode, and accelerate the making of scientific and technological innovations and the transformation of achievements.

On July 29, the delegation was warmly received by Shen Fuxiao, Executive Director and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Company, Wang Qinghua, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee, Li Yalin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Working Committee and Deputy General Manager and an alumnus of Grade 82 in Petroleum Geology Major of CDUT, et al. The two sides visited the Talimu Petroleum Exhibition Hall. At the symposium, Hou Mingcai and Li Yalin introduced the developments of CDUT and Tarim Oilfield and made in-depth discussions on the construction and development of oil and gas disciplines in colleges and universities, scientific research direction, technical bottleneck problems in oil and gas exploration and development in Tarim Oilfield, national oil and gas security strategy, etc.

In the future, CDUT will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Tarim Oilfield, do a good job in top-level design, set up corresponding organizations, realize practical project construction, innovate and cooperate at a higher level, a wider scope, and a wider area, and strive to build a scientific and technological development consortium integrating "production, learning, research and application", so as to jointly promote a continuous progress in the oil and gas exploration and development of Tarim Oilfield and contribute to ensuring the national energy security.

He said that this in-depth cooperation with Sinopec Northwest China Petroleum Bureau was to further implement and promote exchanges between the two sides, understand the current needs and requirements of the oilfields, strengthen the combination of local and industrial advantages, make overall plans, do great things, and seek new advances. Liu hoped that both sides would continue to utilize clustering advantages to carry out in-depth cooperation and seek common development in talent training, scientific research, etc.

The two sides carried out many technical exchanges in the construction, operation, and management of key laboratories, providing valuable experience for the construction of key laboratories of Xinjiang Oilfield Company. Xinjiang Oilfield is at a stage of rapid development and production increase, which urgently requires cultivating and introducing a large number of outstanding scientific and technological talents. He hoped that both sides would further strengthen talent cooperation and utilize complementary advantages to constantly promote the rapid development of CDUT and the Company.

CDUT has made certain achievements in developing into "a world first-class university with first-class disciplines", and thus hopes to "play a bigger game" under the premise of existing close cooperation, and jointly contribute wisdom and strength to the places of the motherland where such wisdom and strength are required most. He proposed that both sides could closely focus on the strategic needs of increasing production and storage in Junggar Basin and combine the traditional advantages of CDUT in the fields of oil and gas geology and exploration, petroleum engineering, etc. to jointly build a tight oil and gas exploration and development innovation consortium.

At the symposium, Liu introduced the development of the university and thanked the alumni for their constant concern, care and help. The symposium was presided over by Wang Yanjie, Chief Technical Expert of Xinjiang Oilfield Company and an alumnus of Grade 84 in Petroleum Geology Major of CDUT.

CDUT has always attached great importance to cooperation with universities and enterprises in Xinjiang and long been committed to university-enterprise innovation and coordinated development. During this trip in Xinjiang, both the university and the companies upgraded the scope and contents of cooperation. After each symposium, Liu Qingyou, on behalf of CDUT, presented gifts to the other side.
